I don't think so. This kind of training 'he is poor, don't play with him' is only given by status conscious upper class lot and their children don't hide their parents. This problem is more common with poor parents whose children jumped to upper class

I think this is possible when your super status concious and have low self esteem, if your confident your "humble/poor" looks "wonderful/admirable". Depends on how that person is internally, and how he/she views his/her situation self image.
