We don't do it in our household but I have seen it happen with aunties and stuff, they suddenly get very cheapskated about what food they give to guests and act like they're all fresh out and forgot to go shopping.

Dunno about locking up but I am familiar with "hiding" certain food in your own room or something and to be honest I don't see anything wrong with it, if u want to buy something with your own money and dont' feel like sharing.....you have every right to do that without being considered stingy or greedy.

now let's say there's a guest who drops by unexpectedly that you don't really like that much...i wouldn't fault the aunty for not wanting to serve her "good" stuff.
