Hidden Folders issue

Re: Hidden Folders issue

Are you sure you have a "hidden folder" in there somewhere?

Have you created another one (a new sub folder) in there and toggled b/w its "hidden" and "not hidden state" just to be sure?

Re: Hidden Folders issue

Yes I'm sure there are hidden folders there because if I search for hidden folders in My Documents they show up in the search results.

Re: Hidden Folders issue

I have a feeling that you are in another user's "My Documents" folder.

How many sub folders do you see under "C:\Documents and Settings"

Re: Hidden Folders issue

No it’s not networked or anything it’s just me and then there’s a folder that says “All Users”. I think it might be a virus. Let me run spybot on it and see.

Barri kutti kisam ki virus hai vesay. :emmy: You guys have no idea how much this has been bothering me.

Re: Hidden Folders issue

When you said that you restore your computer, did you bring it back to earlier setting using XP “Help & Support” section or did you do a fresh install using restore disc

Re: Hidden Folders issue

^ Well it's called the Dell PC restore by semantec and basically I just restarted the computer and then when the blue bar came up I hit ctrl + F11 and then it took me to this screen and I went from there...basically it just restores everything back to the way you got it from the factory.

annnndd spybot isn't working on my laptop because it doesn't have internet connection and it says I have to download and install the updates (which i need internet for) in order to "check for problems".

ki maseebat paygaiy ai. :(

Re: Hidden Folders issue

It looks like that you have an internet access on some other computer, right now. Cant you download a latest version of Spybot and burn it on CD. Then you can run it on your laptop.

Otherwise, forget about "Dell PC restore by semantec " and use the original restore CD, if you have one. You need a fresh install while Dell PC restore by semantec is just restoring it to original setting, without over writing some system files (and probably, virus is hiding there)

Re: Hidden Folders issue

Well I dunno where the CD is what’s it look like? :bummer:

Yea I did copy the application file for Spybot but after I installed it it said I need to download updates for which I need to be connected to the net.

Re: Hidden Folders issue

Well, if you know the name or the type of the file or folder you're looking for, then just search for it and select the option for "search hidden files and folders" (go to Start > Search > All Files and Folders > More Advanced options and check the box for "search hidden files and folders".

Re: Hidden Folders issue

So connect yourself to the net.

Re: Hidden Folders issue

Yea pal I know but it’s not a problem of GETTING to the folder. I just want to be able to SEE the hidden folder when I change the settings to “show hidden folder”.

tariqbhai - Well I don’t know how to set up internet on a computer and all that :bummer: It’s not worth the trouble. But thanks for your help.

Re: Hidden Folders issue

You can moderate a forum, you can put together a blooper video of your home movie (a very good one, I must say) and you want me to believe that you dont know how to set up the internet on your laptop.

Phatima, I was born at night, but not yesterday’s night:snooty:

Re: Hidden Folders issue

If you go to the C drive, double click the Windows folder and then change the option to show hidden files and folders, do you see the hidden files there?
