What the hel is wrong with the greeters at the mall stores. What’s with the chit chat? If I walk into the local Gap to pick up a t shirt, I don’t want to even look at the employees let alone talk to them. How many of you have used mace or blunt objects to keep them from even uttering a word?

Usually "I'll let you know if I need any help" suffices. Its helpful not to completely blow them off, in case you later need help for getting the right size or color or whatnot.

Gap is like the starbucks man, I stay away. I go to china town (get the real deal) 5 for 10.
I have a polo shirt with a tommy hilfiger on the left sleeve, izod on the right and the polo icon on the front left.

They are such annoying chipkoos I swear. I always make very brief eye contact with them when they say hello and look away before they can offer help. Doesn't help though. So I usually say the same as Faisal..i'll let you know if I do'!

I have no problem with ppl offering me help, I actually feel more welcomed to the store. You can just politely tell them, I'll let you know and quit whining :p

I've heard many sectors in retail are not going well these days, economically. Which makes the salesman work even harder to make their commission.
I went into the Aerosoles store the other day (yes, the shoes that old budhi women wear, but whatever, they're amazingly comfy).
This sales rep chic came to me like 5 times while I was there to ask if I needed help. After the 3rd time, I stomped out of there because she wouldn't stop even though I told her "no thanks, I'm looking - I'll let you know when I'm ready".
My mother was laughing, and telling me not to be so mean to her!!!! I was like "I want to look in peace, but this blasted woman keeps breathing down my neck!"
Then after getting a soda, I cooled down a bit, and went back in. I really needed some nice shoes.
Again, she came to me a few times, and I was so damn tired, that I said "okay fine, I'll take that one". My mom was getting one too and I think they had some deal if you got two pairs. Turned out the one that my mom wanted - they only had the display shoes left in her size. So we decided not to buy. That girl looked so pissed.
I HATE it when they keep asking you if you need help. That girl could have made a sale if she had just backed off a bit.

Desis are never happy. They complain about being ignored because of their skin when not greeted by sales person and now they are whining how chipku those sales people are. Get a life you wailers.
