Nowadays I have allot of time on my hands to contemplate about life, No I am not unemployed I am working in a “Sarkari Idara” of Pakistan.
Although I don’t do comparisons between the west and Pakistan but I think its human nature to compare as that’s the way the human mind works and this is how you evolve.
So coming to the point I see hundreds of people coming back from the west for one simple reason… “Our children were becoming older especially girls and want them to learn a little about our culture”
I think that’s absolutely wrong, although we have a rich culture but our social setup and corrupt mindset has damaged it profusely; on the contrary there are vices in this society that are much worse than in the west.
Everything that you can possibly imagine happens in Pakistan but behind closed doors, generally your children will learn how to be cheats, liars and hypocrites because without this set of skills it is virtually impossible to survive in this society.
The point here is not to bash our society rather to make people understand that if they want to migrate to greener pastures they have to accept everything that comes with it that means the cattle, the donkeys, the dogs, the sheep and the cow dung.
IMO, people who grew up in the west have a sense of innocence which only becomes apparent when they go to Pakistan and see how everyone treats them (and eachother). Its like a dog eat dog world there. No trust.
Having said that, on the other side of the coin, people r more open and hospitable, for example, you u could b walking on the street and a stranger will invite u to their home for tea or lunch. But in UK it would b highly unlikely for a non-asian to do that.
PKC and RH have made valid points....however the grass is greener on the other side. I mean the west is more corrupt than Pak in some ways, its done under cover. Things are done openly in Pakistan its a case of 'might is right' or in urdu 'jis ki lathi uski behnse'!. TBH I hate the Pakistani system and the general attitude of some people that money grows on trees in the west!
