"Super pudding" - chocolate or vanilla pudding made with "super-milk"

pizza, baked ziti, lasagna are enjoyed by kids and they are all high calorie dishes. But at the same time they provide carbohydrates, protein, and fruit/vegetable serving. Tomato sauce is very healthy and it is recommended to consume a certain amount of tomato sauce on a weekly basis because it's good for the heart. Plus kids will burn it off because they're more active.

Avocado is a high calorie but very nutritious fruit. And you can serve guacamole with chips.

Hummus with pita wedges? Hummus is healthy.

Baked potato is nutritious and kids might enjoy it better with cheese and sour cream, which is more calories.

Here's something that I've tried and it tastes really good, Niksik. You take a sweet potato and cut it into smaller pieces and bake in the microwave. Drizzle some maple syrup on it and sprinkle cinnamon and crushed granola on top. Very delicious and loaded with nutrients.

You know the yummy Nutella spread? Lots of calories....but a good way to make fruit more appetizing for kids when used for a dip.

Re: Hi Calorie but nutritious foods for kids

My kids love fruit, all fruit, but I should try the Nutella dip.

Re: Hi Calorie but nutritious foods for kids

grilled cheese sandwiches. (You can grill them with sliced tomatoes, a couple of spinach leaves, mushrooms, for added nutrition)

quesadillas.

tuna noodle casserole (incorporates fish protein),

fish fingers. Combine minced fish with boiled potatoes and form into patties. Dip in egg, coat with bread crumbs and shallow fry.

Pasta salads. Kids love the texture of pasta and you can include pieces of chicken and a variety of fresh veggies (peppers, olives, zuchini, tomatoes, diced egg, etc). Add olive oil to it.

Salads in general taste better when kids have a yummy dip/dressing to go with it. And you can include leafy greens like spinach as well.

Chinese style vegetable/meat stir fries.

fruit yogurt

fruit chaat

yogurt chaat. Mix yogurt until smooth. And add boiled chickpeas, boiled and diced potatoes, diced tomatoes, finely chopped onion, and seasonings (salt, garam masala), imli chutney. Very healthy.

Ewwwwwww that's marmite!! it's just yeast extract..... your daughter has tastebuds made of steel :@:

My kids love home made dips with veggie crudités as snacks (i don't like giving them junk).. i make roast aubergine dips, houmus, tomatoey salsa style ones, tsatziki, taramasalata, roast pepper and sun dried tomato, anchovy and garlic dip etc etc

Also wraps are a quick and easy snack or meal.... the favorite one at the moment with my girls is turkey avacado wraps (wholewheat tortilla wraps filled with avocado, deli turkey, shredded carrots shredded lettuce, shredded monterey jack cheese or chedder and some sweet onion sauce, relish or mayo)
