Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - A group of Egyptian judges issued a statement Thursday calling on their government to dissolve its peace agreement with Israel and expressing support for the Hezbollah terrorism that sparked the current regional crisis.
Israel’s Ynet quoted from the Arabic statement, which also slammed America over perceived efforts “to rearrange the Middle East, based on the ‘Greater Middle East’ plan, via Israeli pride and American hegemony, in whose eyes the lives of hundreds of Arab children are not worth the wounds of one Israeli child.”
The judges said that in light of what they called Israeli and American aggression against the pan-Arab nation, it was inconceivable that Egypt would continue as a peace partner or ally to either nation.
Newspapers in Egypt have reported mounting popular anti-Israel sentiment across all sectors of society as the Israel-Hezbollah war rages on. Israel’s relations with Egypt have always been regarded as a “cold peace.”
Two years ago, a popular Egyptian artist won national acclaim for his song “I hate Israel.”
