Syrian-American friends are saying that the regime is setting up fake jihadi groups in Syria and attacking Shi'a sites, recording them and putting out in the media.
I wonder if there is any truth to those claims?
there might have been some possibility if Wahhabis were not doing it in other parts of the world.

The Palestinian faction backing the Assad regime is the marxist PFLP-GC led by Ahmed Jibril, who was ejected by the Syrian army for communist agitation. Somehow, support from communists isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement of the Assad regime.

Why is it not an endorsement of Assad? It shows that assad's regime is secular, and has support of other secular people regardless of their religious beliefs. On the other hand, rebels all belong to just one sect whose leaders like Qardawi clearly show their sectarian bias.
