Hezbollah drone over Israel leaves air force red-faced

**JERUSALEM, Nov 8 (AFP) - The flight over Israel of an unmanned Hezbollah spy plane has deeply embarrassed the Jewish state’s air force, which has prided itself for decades on having total control of the region’s skies. **

“Breach in aerial security. Air force embarrassed. Hezbollah sees all,” read Monday’s front-page headline in Israel’s top-selling daily Yediot Aharonot.

“And what if next time the drone carries a bomb?” asked the daily Maariv.

The Lebanese guerrilla group announced on Sunday that it had sent the drone over “northern Palestine” (Israel) in retaliation for repeated violations of Lebanese airspace by Israel, deemed “Zionist attacks on Lebanese sovereignty”.

After several hours of complete silence from the Israeli military about the incident, the army finally confirmed the overflight of its territory.

“This morning, an Iranian UAV (unmanned air vehicle) operated by the Hezbollah terror organization infiltrated into Israel over the western Galilee,” a military spokesman said in a statement.

The army said the spy plane, launched from southern Lebanon, flew along Israel’s northern Mediterranean coast until it reached the coastal resort of Nahariyah.

“We must know immediately how it’s possible for such a rudimentary device to pass through the Israeli army’s heavy air defenses, in which billions have been invested,” said opposition Labor parliamentary deputy Eitan Cabel.

“The resistance (Hezbollah’s armed branch) turned to this method because international protests have not succeeded in putting an end to Israeli violations of Lebanese airspace,” Information Minister Elie Ferzli said.

Lebanese newspapers said Hezbollah was trying to re-establish a balance of power in the region by introducing the drone to the equation.

“Each time Israel tries to overtake it, Hezbollah seizes the initiative … and proves on the ground that it will not accept any violation of this balance,” said the mass-circulation daily An-Nahar.

AK, dont be happy about that who knows maybe this gives them new reason to attack Lebanon again....

^ no worries, lately they've been content to fight women and a bunch of kids. They're a little to preoccupied at the moment, Hizbullah should take max advantage.

I dont think Lebanon was aware Hizbullah had the capabilities either, so it was a surprise for them too.

Now that would be interesting...

Israel vs Iran

This would be invite for every muslim to join the Iran brigade just so that they could get there chance to fight the squatter israeli state!

And a chance for the US to fight the terrorist state of Iran.

For the US to intefere which ain't no surprise you can expect WWIII with nuclear weapons already in the Region something which the US would not risk as they so in love with OIL one nuclear bomb contaminates the land, oil and mass of land!

woohoo i cannae wait

You canae handle Fallujah on yer own, yet youre all excited about Iran.

WWIII?

both WWI and WWII were wars between capable and formidable armies.

the war that you describe would be like a pack of lions attacking a wounded antelope. a bunch of rag-tag middle eastern armies wouldn't do much more than putting a dent in the West's armor.

I don't think much of your military expertise

I think nuclear bombs leave more than a dent in armour!

and considering the nuclear capabilities of the parties that would be involved.....you still have the pride to talk like this? some possibility of black-market Irani nukes would scare the military forces of U.S, Israel, etc.? these nukes won't even be allowed to come into proper existence. such a war would be a humiliating disaster for the middle east.

let's be serious, not blinded by unfounded pride

It doesn't quite work that way. The oil is underground and protected from virtually all the radiation. The blast site itself can be cleared up and even repopulated and redeveloped pretty quickly - Hiroshima and Nagasaki were prosperous cities again within 30 years of being wiped out.

A nuclear explosion would cause a setback of up to around a year at most in oil exploitation - even that would be due to the oil infrastructure (oil well facilities & pipes) having to be rebuilt.

A nuke is a nuke when once dropped no one is gonna ask about capabilities and power of any party, coz then I will be ashes 2 ashes and dust 2 dust meeting you right at Los DEVILES.

This would be too costly, but then for the black gold any one can sacrifies his life. I wouldn't be so optimistic on this issue, in my view it's easier said than done.

Slight clarification--
A nuke is a nuke. 10,000 tactical nuclear weapons with the ability to deliver them is not 'a nuke'.

lol....and where will it be dropped?

come on bhai, use your head.

Is this news an authentic one?Dopes Hizbollah posess this capability? But a drone can easily escape the eyes of any airforce or defence mechanish very easily with its peculiar shape, small size etc.The peculiar size or design enables a drone to act like a stealth ,to deflect the radar waves.
