Wonderful idea for a thread!
Wedding planning is of course new to all of us - none of us really know what we're doing when we start, but we figure stuff out as we go along. I can say without reservation that GS was my greatest resource! I am so thankful to my cousin for recommending it to me! I found so many great ideas here, and everyone is so willing to help each other out with advice, recommendations, referrals - it's been GREAT!
My advice to all those casually visiting this thread and not sure what this site is about, please please please take some time to look around. You will find everything you were looking for and SO MUCH MORE!
Congrats to all newlyweds and best of luck to all brides/grooms-to-be!
I'm taking time out from ironing and cleaning to post here ;) I just wanted to echo Asquared thoughts that GS is a great resource for all those brides to be out there- it was great to see I wasn't the only one freaking out! And I've enjoyed reading through the different parts of this site, not just the wedding section :)
A very hearty congratulations to all the 2011 newlyweds! Now on to the details..lol. No seriously, what were the easy parts of planning your wedding and what the most difficult? What did you find that costs a lot this year and how did you get around it. Future brides would love advice. I got married several years ago but know nothing about clothing styles and prices of today. Plus my cousin gets married in December so she would need help in thatdepartment too.
I just got married in March of this year. I found Gupshup last year in March, so I was able to get and take advice from here for a whole year before my wedding. I was able to bounce ideas off other members, and also found our videogrpaher (Escape Studios) on this website.
It was a wonderful wedding, and I loved every minute. We did it a little differently than most…we had our nikkah done on Friday at the masjid then had a small dinner for family and friends, mehndi on Saturday, and a combined reception on Sunday. But I loved everything about it! I dont think I would change anything about it!
saimab33 - I have to say, I absolutely loved your wedding film. I felt like I was part of the action and I agree it was very different. MashaAllah you looked lovely, and your jewellery was exquisite. Do you mind letting me know where you bought your clothes and jewellery from?

Wishing you a long and happy marriage xxx
Thank you so much! I have to credit gupshup for helping me find my videographer! I had been looking for a while, and then found a thread through a google search about videographers in Toronto. I'm so glad I found this forum!
