Problem with this is that Osama wins either way. If the war were by some miracle called off, the US would be seen as weak and that would help al Qaeda's recruitment. If the war goes ahead there will be a long-term US presence in the region different from the previous version, giving aQ new propaganda.
Either way Osama wins. The US dug their own hole by calling for this war of choice.

Why does the US govt. need to be honest with their public and ROW? Since when has any govt. (except maybe some Scandinavian ones) been honest, specially where imperialism is concerned.
However within its own restricted circle the PNAC has been quite clear about its objectives - military dominance of M.E (and ROW). See:
