Memon is the Gujrati term for Momin. The Lohana tribe of Saurashtra accepted Islam during Zafar Baiqara's rule (1325-1456) from the Tableegh of Saint Wajeehuddeen Suhrawardi a disciple of Khwaja Bahauddeen Multani. They are known as Halai Memons in India and some parts of Sindh in Pakistan, mostly Karachi. The Malwana tribe of Kutchh in Gujarat also accepted Islam around a few centuries later and call themselves Kachhi Memons.
So much for your tribal analogy.

Well I thot people in pakistan do know who are memons, I my self being born & brought up in UAE have no sense of memoni language only few words , so thot of making some memon friends who really can speak good memoni n also i can be guided positively in learning this mother tongue of mine , but the threads given so far are just vice versa , anywayss hope to hear from some good memon friend.
