I was just about to use voice chat and then realised I had to re-register in order to use it…
Only one question… Why do you need so much Personal information from Guppies wanting to register for voice chat ?.. I mean I know you’ve provided a small explanation at the top of that page… something about advertising…demographics blah blah blah… But why do you need for example, my Date of Birth, Street address and Zip/Postal code in order to accomplish any of the things you mentioned ??.
Surely something as simple as age/city/state/province/country and hobbies/interests would be sufficient for you to get a reasonable idea as to who your target audience is ?? why take it down to Street level and where does DOB come into all of it ??.
The only reason why I mentioned this is that, I for one am reluctant to provide that level of personal detail over the internet and I’m sure there are many others also. Have you thought that maybe be requiring such details you could possibly be ‘discouraging’ certain users from making full use of Pak.Org ??.
Please don’t take this as a ‘bitching’ session !..This is a serious question and I’m sure you guys at Pak.org don’t need to be told about internet security issues.
I’m not critisizing and I’m sure you have valid reasons as to why you require such details… maybe you could share some of them ??
First of all, none of it is a requirement. You certainly are not under obligation to put in your real info in any column. Secondly, if you chose to put in any such info, i believe it will provide other users with info about your a/s/l, something that users routinely do on gupshup anyway, if they so choose. Just provides for a shortcut to people u would wanna talk to on a preferential basis. Thats just my assessment, otherwise, there is no hard and fast rule regarding what you have to put in and what you dont.
guys there's some really wierd stuff happening here. before I started this thread, I couldn't get into voice chat... It brought up this registration screen which I've never seen before, it wouldn't accept my nic and pw ... and now... it just lets me in using my normal gupshup nic and password... so what gives ???. Maybe its just my pc... but this one really scores a 10 on the 'wierd-shit' scale !.
