How many of you have seen it? No not the Indian movie Hero. I am talking about Jet Li’s movie. I heard its better then Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Any opinions before I waste/spend my $8.00? Not including the watered down coke and popcorns with some thing on the top that supposed to be butter.
not bad…im not exactly sure if its better than crouching tiger hidden dragon…but the movie is definetly good and has some excellent action scenes :k:
I saw it 2 years ago, its worth the watch. TRUST ME!
But I saw it in subtitles, are they releasing this here with subs or re-recorded?
Went and saw last night. It was with sub title, so i didn't enjoy it a lot, but there were some spectacular action scenes. Over all CTHD was better than Hero.
This movie is a whole lot of eye candy and has some subtle moments of poetic beauty.
I've heard many differing opinions on the movie from the Chinese. The opinion is really mixed, whereas support for Crouching Tiger was unanimous. A lot of people view this movie as being a distortion of Chinese history, even perhaps parodying it with the portrayal of the Chinese emperor. It also hurts that they've been watching these kind of movies their entire lives, while this is the 2nd exposure for many Americans.
I didn't like Hero very much, but absolutely loved Crouching Tiger. Whereas actual physics existed in Crouching Tiger, Hero gives no sense of realism. Which is all good and dandy, but it doesn't work when you're trying to bring out an epic appeal. The characters in Crouching Tiger had actual boundaries and restrictions in their physical abilities, while in Hero characters do as they wish as if they're in the Matrix. There's a poetic sense both movies try to illustrate, Crouching Tiger succeeds in this because of the occassional subtlety existing between fights. However, in Hero it's just one fight scene linked after another, allowing little time to appreciate the beauty of the film.
P.S. I didn't think Zhang Ziyi was that pretty before, but she looked awesome in the movie, so yeah it was worth it. :)
