Apparently, the helicopters were spotted, and jets would have been called in, but the US informed them that they were going after a high profile target, so they allowed them to proceed not knowing where exactly they were going or who the target was.
“The first we knew they were coming was after they had crossed the Durand line,” Ayaz says, referring to the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
There were four helicopters coming in very low and the protocols set in. Jets were being scrambled, but they were called back in as the US then informed the High Command."
Ayaz dismisses claims that the Americans jammed Pakistan’s radars.
“These type of helicopters - if they fly really low - have no real signature. But they can be sighted visually - which they were - and this led to the alert.”

helicopters arent noiseless. low flying helicopters are easy to spot. if a random guy on twitter spotted it, im sure plenty of military personnel did too.

well wht is done is done, one cant undo it!!! atleast they acknowledge their shortcomings, however, they gotta come up with better strategies!! and have a look at their policies again! we want prosperity and sovereignty in Pakistan

Just another piece of bull****, if that was the story then we would've heard it on May 2nd or May 3rd not May 5th, they are too slow to even come up with coherent story.

They cant say because that would mean they allowed the US in. Which is what they did.

If this is what they admit now, then the BEST response would have been for Pak to contradict claims that Pakistan was caught unaware within hours of the event. To proudly pronounce that the vaunted seal team 6 would be a blood stain on a moutain somewhere had it not ben for Pakistan giving America the benfit of the doubt..for which it has no obligation to do.
The delay in response makes me think someone was thinking long and hard about what to say...(don't wan to upset either the militants or America), so there's probably not much truth to it.

It WOULD make sense that Pak knew about it .. but were informed very last minute or during the operation.
But captain makes a good point that why didnt they just say this before.. is this just a BS story to save face?
Can't tell. They probably didnt want to offend either the Americans or the militants.. but saying NOW that they allowed the operation is going to get the militants all riled up anyway so why not just say it upfront instead of looking like clueless fools.

I think the military knew all along abt the whole episode. its just they didn;t have the balls to own up. that could be due to two reasons
1- They sold OBL to the US, may be, after a sustained pressure from US giving clues and indications like their senators and foreign secretaries. besides they have sold so many other alqaeda members and even innocent ppl for bucks.
2- May b they were afraid of the backlash from TTP and even local population and once they know this is a 'khassi' nation so they can come up openly ,even slowly leaking the details, to own up things.
for a normal 'bloody civilian' there doesn;t seem to be anything in it. they might declare anyone alqaeda member and sell to US and in return earn few bucks and buy sometime before their asses are screwed by US, which looks probable.

Kayani was told after the choppers took of from Afghanistan but before entering Pak territory. The idea was to ensure that it was Kayani's decision whether Pak airforce tried to repel (not shoot down) or not, the choppers. If Kayani was not informed, he would have some lowly captain take that decision (to repel or shoot down) and then later claim he didn't know.

There were sure some type of protection for US choppers.
US have no Taliban.
They try their best for the security of their people.
They could not afford disaster instead of success .
Perhaps one are more of our high ups was detailed to make it safe.

He said it was absolutely wrong to speculate that elements within the ISI or the Government were providing cover to Osama. He said the United States itself has acknowledged that some of the leads that ultimately led to identification of the Abbotabad compound resulted from the information shared between the ISI and the CIA.

Its a tough situation. Damed if you do and damned if you dont. Any explanation they could give would be an embarrassment.
