50 cent: I feel for you man, but only you know your family better than anyone else..If you dont have your family support then it will be tough..you can either hang in there and hope your family and her's will come around, but you have to be honest with yourself and say "will my family honestly come around?" I know a couple of paki punjabi jatt familys and in one case particular, an acquaintance of mine married a peruvian muslim w/o his parents permisiion and her father in law said to her face "my son marrying you was a mistake" I dont wanna generalize but just be honest with yourself...good luck..
Salaam,
What makes a muslim marriage a success is your complete Iman..not your race,
money, culture, family name etc. If you both believe in the Islamic family
model and respect each other's rights and responsibilities as declared by
Islam...then Inshallah your marriage will be a success.
I do encourage you to try and get your families on your sides...however this
can't always be done. I know of a girl whose family kicked her out of the house
because she was "too religious" in her eyes & challenged her fiance to marry
her earlier than they intended..and alhamdulilah it did happen within the week.
What the imam said at the nikkah was that it was essential for the the hubby to
keep his wife as happy as possible..and support her in this hard time. SO i
guess my advice to you is that since you both have been deserted by your
familes, it is necessary that you keep each other happy and respect each other
100%.
May Allah swy bless the both of you, and keep your hardships at bay.
Hinna

Yo guys, i just thought i'd update you with the situation.
Basically we have decided to hold on for a year before we get married, and try to convince our parents. After the year is up, we will get married even if they havnt come round. Also by then both of us will have finished studying and have jobs, so we'll be financially stable....
