help ...

hey … i’m going to pakistan in about 2 weeks and will be attending a wedding end Feb - i am utterly confused as to what sort of colours/kaam styles are in fashion as i need to get my sister to get a suit made for me!! i can trust her choice but i really wanted to order something my self!

so here is where i need help of all you lovely guppies.. i know long kameez/frock styles are in fashion .. but what sort of work?? i would appreciate pics plz!! i can google/search the threads but i get overwhelmed :frowning: .. i’d prefer kaam on the daman/front of the shirt rather than the gala as that tends to get hidden under the hijab!

I’m thinking of sea-green with brown or royal blue with silver kaam? again if anyone can post pics of these or any other combos would be highly appreciated.

Thanks..

Re: help ...

These days angrakha's and churidaars are back in fashion.. pants are slowly making their way out of the limelight.
I was just talking to my cuzn who if the known fashionista in my family and thats what she had pointed out. The length of the angrakha's are still long, for eg. Im 5'6 and I usually wear a 45-46 inch kameez but she was telling me to bring it upto a 50-51 so that only the churiyaan in the churidaar show..

Other than that Flowy A-lines are still in. Straight pants aswell as shalwars are making it back into the picture :)

Re: help ...

thanks for the ideas mysti ...

i really want to get a frock/pants made as i don't have any in that style ... i don't want anything too long or short .. and am 5'4 so i guess 44-45 would be a good length?

any ideas about the sort of kaam and colour combinations??

Re: help ...

well these days very long shirts are definitely in fashion. but i am seeing some shorter lengths in market as well. Khaddi khaas is coming out with some lovely designs wher they have littel work on the shirts and then the trousers have a bigger flair ( 12 or 14 inches) and have work on them as well. it looks really nice as well.

if u have to attend all three days of the wedding i would suggest do one long ( 47 inches ) traditional suit on one day ( like angrakha and churodaar) and a shorter length( 44 inches) with worked trousers on second day.

Re: help ...

work includes lots of stones and shiny glittery sequins added on to the traditional dabka and zari that has always been used. use a combination of gold and silver both in your work.

colors that are really in vogue for this season are deep purple with a hint of turqoise in the work and trims . another very elegant combination is a beige or light brown suit with work and trims in bright colors like reds or pinks or even light green . deep red with sea green combination looks awesome as well.

Re: help ...

Hi All, Just like Maheen I am also stuck. Im going to pakistan and have about 4weeks before the wedding, I have heard that is about enough time to get clothes made?

Can you guys give me some hints as well please, my sis and bro in law are getting married so i've gota get 4 outfits. 2 baraat and 2 walima.

Mysti wrote about angrakaha's, please don't laugh at my question, but what is an angrakaha? :P

I like the colour combo design affairs has suggested, any more ideas will be most welcome.

my other trouble is, I don't know where to get these outfits from, either isb/pindi or Lahore?? I have never shopped from pindi/isb, but my inlaws are from isb so will be staying there, we do plan to go lahore but I so don't know whether to get them all from lahore, or some from lahore and some from pindi.

I know a little more about Lahore compared to pindi/isb. Can you guys suggest where I should shop from pls.

Thanks alot, your help will be much appreciated.

Re: help …

Well seems like it is shaadi season and we all are heading to Pakistan :). Inshallah I will also be going in April this year. I got this suit made from Proto which I am going to wear on Mehandi

I have shortlisted the following 3 suits, from which I will get 2. Not sure which ones yet but I want to change colours if I get number 2 and 3. What colours would look good???

Re: help ...

Fizza I like what you got made for the mehndi, I'm thinking something like that would even be nice to wear on my sis in laws walima :)

Im in love with pic 3.. I think I want that too.. what do you think of no 3 being deep purple with another col, not sure what though. do you have any idea how much it would cost?

Thanx Arlanda, I got the green one made from Proto. She is really nice and u can change the colour as you wish. Mine is with red duppatta...Looks really nice

I think number 3 is around RS 30,000 with kaam on duppatta also...Ask Catwalk and she will give you more information. Deep purple will look good...maybe with gold or with light blue???

Re: help ...

I think coal / silver gray color is really cool with a beautiful kora dabka work. Pishwas and chooridars are best for the seasons!!
