Taffy, my nexus one is connected to USB even when there is no USB wire in sight, buggy OS.
You would image with 1GHz processor it would be fast, but my 1 gen ipod touch puts it to shame.

I think they sent u a defective piece.
My Palm m505 from 2000 works faster than the ipod touch. So that doesn’t much about that Touch either.

Android needs 1 Ghz and higher processors, its just that slow. Same would be true about the Windows Phone 7, but it would be faster than android on similar hardware.

Android is working just as well on slower processors. The HTC Eris is 528 mhz, there are others even slower.
Compare apples to apples (no pun intended), don’t mix fruits
