Can someone give any info about organizing a show. As in a cultural show from Pakistan, L;ke the big promoters do? I know artists who 'd be interested in coming here but where do I start? Do I get sponsors (from where?) or finance out of my pocket ? which is empty!!!

First thing you need to do is manage your finances. You need to know how money is gonna come and where is it gonna go.
You need to know the sources of income, which are tickets, sponsors, donations, ads from phamplats etc. Some sort of grant is always good.
Now you need to know where the money is gonna go. do not expect profit , best case scenario is you end with zero balance which is very rare. you will end up spending some thing out of your pocket.
money goes for advertising, decorations, sound/video system, food(if any), catering, renting instruments and place, props, security,certain fees, taxes etc.
most probably you will get most of your money from tickets, but it depends on how good you advertise it.
First talk to your financial sources, make sure you will have enough money to organize the show. do not try to make it too big, manage in whatever money you have. you will have to cut corners and compromise on stuff for that.
Once finances are taken care of then talk to people who want to perform. advertise atleast month ago and you will be contacted by people who want to perform. You need to know how long the show needs to be. my preference 10-12 performances. if goras are coming to the show then do not keep it too long . goras get bored after few performances if they dont see things moving on the stage.
Keep songs to minimum, at most two. as lots of people dont understand your language. Have good mixture of dances. i mean different kind of dances, a short comic skit will be good and a fashion show will be super awesome. order them strategically. don not have too many dance number together.
Make sure you know before hand what kind of shows you want, take an audition a week before the show. dont be shy in telling people what you want and ask them to prepare for it. take another audition few days ago. have dress rehersal. manage and co ordinate your lights sound etc . keep a stop watch with you all the time.
also contact some professional performer(s)/groups if u know any. make sure the quality of show is good, at the end of the day people only remember the quality of the show. everything else can be forgiven by the audiances but the quality of the performances....
