Re: help...:(
Kamran: I used to cook a couple extra servings and put in the freezer in my busy days. Then while going to work, i would just grab a glad container out of the freezer. For quick recipes, try searching the GS for previous posts. I remember posting a few ideas before.
Re: help...:(

Re: help...:(
Instead of making meals when you are hungry..i would say that you can eat the ready made meal one evening as soon as you come home..and then go in the kitchen and then you can cook food..you can do what ever you want and let the food cook on medium heat. This way the food will be ready on its own and you won't have to suffer from the hunger. You can use that food the next evening you come from work. This is what i used to do. Another thing you can do is cook 2/3 different things on the weekend. This will help you to have relaxing evenings during week nights.
As for jhat phat...rice and dals and khichris don't take that much time..and so does qeema and boneless chicken dishes. Also, you can try making subzis if you want..like you can make spinach from the frozen spinach and you can make beetroot subzi from the canned beetroot. You can make rajma and other beans to eat with rice by using boiled beans. Also, you can boil or stir fry chicken and keep it handy to add to vegetables to make quick food.
Re: help...:(
try this (rice)
buy ready fried onions, good quality veg stock powder or chicken/beef stock cubes(you can get Halaal in asian stores)
take two cups basmati rice and wash and soak on water
put 4 cups of water in pan add the fried onions, bit of tomato puree and stock powder coriander and cumin and salt and bring to boil add rice and cook for ten/15 mins or so.
you can add a handful of frozen veg if you like
Re: help...:(
30 minutes??
a regular chicken curry is cooked in half an hour mate :-)
Re: help...:(
For easy and quick cooking, I avoid anything that needs to be prepared for a longer time or requires many different ingredients.
For sust-al-wajood ppl.
Fry a tin of tuna in tomato paste or add some canned tomatoes, add salt and red chili. Fry for two or three min on high flame, and you're ready. Eat it with bread, naan paratha whatever. A cup of doodh patti and you're done. This will take no more than five min.
Or
Boil some rice, don't over cook. Fry whatever veg you have (mushrooms, carrots, green peas etc) add chicken if you have any, shredded or thinly sliced. Add salt, dhania 'n zeera powder. Drain water from rice and add to veg mix. Add sweet chili sauce and soy sauce, mix and let it sit for five min on very low heat. 5 Min and you're ready to eat this with cucumber and yogurt raita.
Or
Cut an Italian bread lengthwise, spread some pizza sauce on it and whatever topping, even left over stuff, cover with a nice layer of cheese, bake and eat.
Or
Fry a chicken leg or breast - Toss the chicken piece in flour and fry with skin side down first on medium heat, when that side is done, turn over and fry the other side golden as well. Have this with French fries / boiled rice (plain or veg), fried veggies or baked/fried potato wedges (wash and cut wedges) boil to speed up the process and bake.
Or
Buy those ready made kebabs - Fry them. Make masala of tomato, green chili, fresh coriander, add salt zeera and coriander powder. Fry till oil separates add kebabs and let it simmer for a few min and you're ready to eat them with bread/pita/paratha/roti.
Good luck.
Re: help...:(
Jhat pat aloos, everyone loves aloos.
Peel and slice potatoes. Put in a pot with some oil.
Add chopped tomatoes, zeera, namak, mirch, a bit of ajwein, chat masala, dhanya powder, sabut dhanya.
Cook on a medium heat, covered until the potatoes are done and leave oil along hte edges, aka bhoonified.
Enjoy with rotis, ready made parathas (Dawn has excellent parathas)
Re: help...:(
For some no-fail champain...
Marinate champain in some oil, soysauce, vinegar, ajinomoto, safaid mirch, namak and salt. Cook on high heat till it secretes water. turn the heat on low and cook till meat is tender. Dry out the water and Enjoy!...
For a quicker version...you can try this with chicken drumsticks as well...

fry it in oil on low-medium heat

Dice the tomatoes if you’re using whole ones. Add this to the chicken. Deseed the bell peppers and cut them into 1 inch chunks. Cut the onions into chunks and add these in as well. Throw in the rest of the ingredients and cook this on low-medium heat for about half an hour or until the bell peppers are slightly soft. Serve with boiled rice.
