Help !!!!!!!!!!

O’ ye guppies i turn towards u seeking help after facing some misery … :bummer:
1st of all how it happend

i played alongside some friends against our “Old Enemy” from Goettingen … Now since i played only tapeball for the last two months it was something to happen for sure … but me as always as a rock of selfconfidence thought “well, no problem we’ll (especially me) spank the daylight out of them” … (i was on my way to be proved wrong) :smack:

Agreed on playing for 25 overs each side i thought it’s good to come 2 down as my usual slot is the openers place … regarding to play with a hardball i was by now out of touch for some 14 months …

Soon we were 34/2 after 10 Overs so it was my turn … i had to face 5balls so i asked my mate how the were going and he told me the ball is swinging … i thought well no problem i’ve seen enough of Kallis and Co. playing aginst swing so no prblem as i’ve learned a lot by watching… :smack:

After been beaten all ends up by the 1st 2 balls which were outswingers the bowler decided to try to inswing … which he did quite well but i could keep it out with an inside edge … now the final two balls were outswingers again and i was beaten all ends like Afridi … The Skipper decided to bowl himself as he realised in what kind of horror-trip i caught myself in … his 1st ball a bit short and swung away and i tried my best to hit the ball like Micheal Vaughan does (outside the off pulled/hooked to mid-on/mid-wicket) only to be caught at short-extra-cover … :frowning:

Sorry to bore u but i wrote down all this to seek help for bating especially on offstump … No i’m not Shahid Afridi etc. etc. who hacked Zero_one’s account :help: :help:

To kill swinging balls, stand a yard outside of the popping crease and as soon as you pick the line of the incoming delivery, take full foot forward and drive it in line of the ball. By standing outside the crease you are basically reducing the flight time of the ball, thereby reducing the swing.

Hope it helps.

yes .. they key is to play in the direction of the swing ... watch the ball in the ballers hand as he is running towards the crease, as he delivers, front foot out, focus on the ones that come in (inswing) and simply leave the out swingers alone atleast for the first couple of overs and wait till the ball looses its shine. and ALWAYS watch the ball right to the end.

By your own admission, you played against the swing and accross the line. If you going to play accross the line make sure you "roll" the bat over the ball unless you are going to slog.

so did u forget to change ends after the first 5 balls? and the captain was such a jackass that he saw u being beaten 5 deliveries in a row and changed the bowler and decided to have u for himself?

Sorry but i forgot to mention that i faced infact 7 deliveries in that over ..... beaten on the 4 out of the 1st 5 the 6th a wide down the leg and on the 7th i managed somehow to get my leg/pad to the ball so took a LB to stroll to other end only to see my end was nigh

Thanx FG and trooper i guess i'll need to spend some time facing the bowling machine :D :D :D
