hey guys i fried my computer when i was connecting second hard drive while it was running ( i know big mistake). I want to know what do you guys think which component burned? I was connecting power outlet to the drive and saw a spark and it stopped working. now i cant even open the cd rom to get my cd out; my keyboard’s light are on; i can also see a green light on the motherboard. can it be the power supply tht went out? primary hard drive? motherboard? ram? processor? or n e thing else?
Re: help with the desktop
It is hard to diagnose remotely without looking at it. I guess your best bet is to show it to a hardware expert.
thanks mirch for ur reply.
I don’t know how it happened but my desktop just came back on. I was trying to remove the power supply box to replace it but I decided to give another try so I turned on the computer and it came back on. im so happy. when i was connecting the power outlet to the hard drive i saw the spark and the burning smell. I tired turning the computer nothing happened. There was no sound or movement from the hard drive or the processor now all of sudden it working! I can not believe it! It’s a miracle!
btw i also unplugged the power cord going to the motherboard and plugged it back on. did tht maybe reset the motherboard or something? do motherboards have reset capabilities?
now use the paper clip to retrieve the cd ![]()
