Help with Shan masala

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is having a tasty day today
Shan masalas are spicy for my taste. I hate sweating while eating!!!.
But I want to make Nihari with the packet masala with 1.5 kg meat.
Should I use half the packet and add some additional salt?
Please tell me how do you use packet masalas?

Thank you,

Ponam

Re: Help with Shan masala

I've never tried Nihari, but other stuff, I use half or 1/3 of the pack. It's way too hot for my taste as well.

Re: Help with Shan masala

Thanks, SeaBee. I will use half of the Shan masala.

Re: Help with Shan masala

Yeh I try to use half and then add my own.
One it doesnt give you the heart burn feeling and two you can add your own taste and fresh ingrediants to it.

Re: Help with Shan masala

I use half also. They are too spicy otherwise.

yeah i use shaan biryani masalas...just 2-3 tsps of it and then my usual masala...for 1 chicken...usually 800-900g

Re: Help with Shan masala

Yes they r v spicy but I do think that a whole packet will b enough for 1.5 kg of meat. If u still think its too much, then use half a packet, and add ground fennel seeds, kalonji, cloves and a bit of mace with a lot of fried onions. It will give u an extra depth of flavour without the heat of chilli.
