Help With Saree Pallu

Hi girls, so I have a dilema my pallu is dragging on the floor when i wear it bengali style. I want to wear this beautiful black and silver saree I own but some time back I had a sari belt put in (i learned the hard way what a bad idea it is to have those readymade saris where the pleats are already stitched).

I wore it for a reception i planned on dancing around in so i guess when i got the belted pleats put in i thought it was a wise choice bc it will stay in place I wore it the style below and the pallu was off of the ground:

when it’s worn like above the pallu doesn’t drag on the floor. I plan on wearing it bengali style like in the pictures below but my pallu is on the floor and it’s like about 3 inches of material dragging. any tips on how to pin it so that this doesn’t happen? with a normal sari i’d just pleat it more so that the material isn’t so long but it looks like that won’t work with this one since the pleats are sewn into a belt.

I tried on the sari last night and felt slim and hot but with the pallu dragging so much I also felt like aishwarya rai in the last scene of devdas.

I may just wrap the pallu around to my other arm and pin it around my elbow if i can’t find a solution. :frowning:

Re: Help With Saree Pallu

well you can always take one corner of the pallu and and pin to your opposite shoulder so the pallu is hanging up instead of dragging on the floor or you can always take the belt out and just pleat it yourself to make it a bit shorter........ i usally pleat my sari's myself don't like the pre-made ones with the belt

Re: Help With Saree Pallu

^ I don't either but if you're gonna be dancing around trust me you may get a ready sewn one

but i looked at un-doing the belt but it's all machine tight stitches i think i'd just mess it up. as for the idea you recommended i tried that it was an okay option but kinda doesn't make me happy but maybe it'll have to do.
