I got sick of wearing my bearpaws (aka fake uggs aka f-uggs, which are actually really awesome but just got bored with them) so I wore these to work yesterday…when there were feet of snow on the ground.
Now there’s these stains. How do I get rid of them?
Don’t judge me, I’ve never really paid attention to caring for shoes since I buy cheap stuff normally and I bought these last year but haven’t worn em so much…don’t want them to be perma ruined!
I don't think that suede cleaner will get rid of salt stains.....but you can definitely try.
These are salt and water stains.....will be tough to get rid of them completely.
Try using a toothbrush first. Just dry scrub to get the dried salt out.
Then use a 50/50 mixture of warm water and white vinegar (1/2 cup of each is usually enough) to clean the stains. Let the boots air dry and repeat the process if necessary.
These are snow boots, so I presume they are water proof as well. Why not just wash them with detergent and fresh water, and give them a good rinse? The salt stains should wash away.
well they're not really snow boots, I thought they were good to wear in the snow (i.e, I won't slip and they wont' soak through) but thats totes not the same as snow boots. :( meri aqal...bas.
:( muzna ill try your method soon!
I had suede boots last year and they were black...salt stains just pissed me off too much so i got a pair of Uggs, not the ugly kind however. They're leather, really look good, super-crazy-warm and are tough boots. Perfect for Chicago winters.
What Muzna wrote is what i do...except sometimes i use hot water and vinegar so it's steamy and place the boot directly above steam and scurb with tooth brush. Works awesome.
Also, buy a waterproofer spray. You can get one at FinishLine or really any other shoe store. When i had suede boots and i needed to go out in snow, i would spray them with the waterproof spray and they wouldn't get wet or get salt stains.
OMG what a life saver thread!
I have a similar problem, have been looking for something to clean my boots with salt stains; they look suede but are a mixture of suede and leather i think and despite using a protector spray, still got the stains and now I don't know how to fix them....:(
