help with menu

As’ salamelikum
I’m hosting at iftar dawat at home for my parents and inlaws. We are 11 adults and 4 kids. Father in law had open heart surgery 2 months back so I have to consider his health when deciding menu.
I have thought for doing fruit chaat, chicken bread, shami kebab and chicken pasta for iftar. Then yakhni plao for dinner. For dessert I will make egg pudding. I want you guys to suggest an healthy soup.
Should I make any changes in my menu..

Re: help with menu

Make a subzi or chicken curry with less oil for your father in law.

Re: help with menu

Hmm. I see chicken pasta as more of a meal dish than an iftari one, so consider moving it to the dinner menu. Soup is a lighter dish, so consider moving it to the iftar menu. How do you feel about making one salan-gravy item for dinner? That way people have the option of rice and roti for dinner. You can do a vegetable salan. So, your iftar menu will consist of a soup, chicken bread, shami kababs and fruit chaat. Your dinner menu will consist of yakhni pulaao, one salan dish, chicken pasta, roti…and you can add a simple salad and raita if you wish.

For soup, you can make anything. You could do a chicken corn soup, hot and sour soup, vegetable coup, etc etc.

Shami kababs pair beautifully with yakhni pulao, so you can use the kababs for dinner instead. So your dinner menu can consist of pulao, shami kababs, a salan, roti…and salad/raita. You can move pasta to the iftar menu then. This is another option.
