Ok guys.. I need help with menu. Its my husband’s birthday party. I want to invite 10-12 people. Difficult part is; they are mostly non-desi who don’t mind desi food. Infact they’ll prefer desi food. But of course I don’t want nehari or haleem, that’s just too strong and spicy for them.
So far I have decided on chicken biryani and seekh kabab (i’ll order these). I want at least 2 veg. dishes too. I am looking for 4-5 dishes and then dessert (a cake or i can make kheer even). Please please help me
I am not good with deciding menu for non-desi people.
Humm…
Well cook qeema with pasta it loves both desi & non desi…also made chicken cheese kabab… In vegi all ppl likes potatos… so cook potatos with beans & cream …
aloo tikkis (it would be a nice vegetarian compliment to the kababs)
Cholay (don't make em spicy)
Palak paneer
Bagharay Baingan (eggplants)
Malai kofta (veggi balls in creamy sauce. Don't have the recipe)
Tarka daal (daal is ordinary for us....but not for a non-desi)
^If I had to narrow it down to 2 veg dsihes.........I would pick cholay and palak paneer. Because there's a variety of color....difference in texture....and taste. The aloo tikkis can be used as a "side" or even appetizer (or just skip them altogether).
So:
Chicken Biryani
Kabab
Cholay
Palak
^You've got a rice dish.....two types of meat (chicken and dark meat in the form of kababs)....and 2 veggie dishes. Sounds balanced.
Ok so I think i'll do
chicken biryani
seekh kabab (chicken)
aloo tikkis (cutlets right?)
cholay
somosas
I still need at least two more dishes.. becuase i'll order seekh kababs, samosay.
I want something with gravy too that they can eat with roti. I make really good karahi.. but I feel like karahi is a bit masalay daar and spicy for non desis plus its going to be another chicken dish.

Cholay have a gravy to them...it's like a chunky gravy.....and they go GREAT with roti. Lot of people like cholay with roti.
^If you STILL want another salan with gravy....then either make your karahi less spicy OR how about a vegetable curry? Or koftay?
