Help with menu plz!

I have an indian aunty who is going back to india and i want to invite her over for lunch. Since i have never invited an indian over so im not being able to decide the menu. She is a non-veg (i can go for a chicken dish). One dish that i was thinking is karhi pakora as i came to know baton baton main that she loves it. But should i serve it with rice/roti…and if rice then what kind? What else should i have in menu. Im planning to do it this weekend so i need quick suggestions
Thankyou in advance my friends :sheen:

Re: Help with menu plz!

If it's lunch then you want to keep the menu simple. I'd personally just do snacky foods, like samoseh, pakoreh, chana chaat, kebabs etc.

Whenever we make kari/pakoreh we have it with roti, but you can also have it with rice. Maybe plain chaval?

Re: Help with menu plz!

I dont want to go for high tea.....i need a proper lunch menu....i was thinking of plain rice with karhi but isnt plain rice too bland?

Re: Help with menu plz!

I've never tried kari with rice... defo something I will do now after reading this thread lol. What type of rice do you usually make with kari? If you want to do kari then just stick to the method you usually do with regards to rice.

Good luck with the dinner, I'm sure your friend will enjoy it after all your hard work :)

Re: Help with menu plz!

Tamatar ka Kut --->> its a hyderabadi dish --- u might have not heard of it...sawwie

Re: Help with menu plz!

What about just having the kari with steamed, buttered, basmati rice? As a dessert you can have sooji halwa, or whatever you may prefer, and for a drink, perhaps something light and refreshing for instance, lychee juice? Maybe even make a quick salad, just my suggestions. :)

Re: Help with menu plz!

Well, you already have karhi pakora - I have never tried rice with karhi so roti would be better for this

Saag chicken is perfect as its not that heavy

Aloo tikkis

I would also have some sort of rice like vegetable rice or baghar ke chawal

Re: Help with menu plz!

have both rice (boil or simple tarkay walay) and roti, bagain ka salan, chicken tikka, and palak paneer.

Re: Help with menu plz!

It is quite normal to have karhi with white rice or plain tarkay walay rice.

Re: Help with menu plz!

rice goes well with karhi pakora but some people eat it with roti too or just eat it as it is. You can make chicken tandoori or chicken 65, they'll make a great combination with karhi!

Re: Help with menu plz!

Just cook as you do normally but double (or triple) the quantity of turmeric powder. Indian food is ready :chai:

Re: Help with menu plz!

We always have curry pakora with roti, it can be eaten with plain whiter boiled rice but I have never tried this as I like it eaten with roti.
How about palak paneer as another option? Some mezzes and 1-2 curries.
