^ you are FABULOUS!!! thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of all things kaam!!! :D

i now know that i had sitara work, dabka, diamante stones, and ganga jamani work on my wedding dress. i don't know why, but that makes me feel better!

Re: Help with Embroidery Terminology with Pictures

This is so pretty!

very nice thread. I can never understand how my mom looks at a picture and can tell what type of work it is.

Re: Help with Embroidery Terminology with Pictures

we have kashmiri family living in fort worth…and they sell kashmiri products…and i saw a similar shervani…it was priced $1200… :hayaa:

i did buy a shawl from them for $140
the one mommy liked was $900…

I am getting a bedspread from them…it is filled with nakshi/dabka/tilla…comes with a hefty price tag…but they were willing to have me do installments on it..

Re: Help with Embroidery Terminology with Pictures

the jewelery doesn’t look good with the outfit, but the dress is very nice.

Re: Help with Embroidery Terminology with Pictures

Yeah…high quality embroidery definitely costs a fortune.

I remember seeing some cotton shalvar suits where the qameezes were embroidered like that shervani…someone had brought them here from Kashmir and was selling them for $1000 each…

Re: Help with Embroidery Terminology with Pictures

**ahahahahah this was never a real bridal picture :stuck_out_tongue:
The jewelery is “polki” set that belongs to my friend (Samira) and her younger sister chunniya (girl in the pic) just wore it for the advertisement shot…This was almost 2 years back when Samira & Umer were doing advertisement for their studio & salon.
