Madhanee… speaking for myself, I don’t have any issues with the U.S. per say (at the civic level) – yes… I have my own political viewpoints but then again, who doesn’t and like I said, anything to do with the administration, I keep separate from my overall opinion about the country. I’ve worked in the States for almost a year… still travel about 5 or 6 times a year, and also recognize that there are a greater no. of opportunities to avail – and I attribute that to the population, and more developed industry and trade.
In the end, to each his own…
I wouldn’t give up the feeling of harmony that I get at an individual and a collective level living here in Canada for any additional opportunities that I’d be able to avail in the U.S.

Honestly Madhanee , you guys have bigger racism issues - against African Americans ( I have given up - thats never gonna end), Muslims ( the famous terrorists), and so on. And you're telling me that one example of something discriminating in Canada is gonna make you guys look better?
USA probably can triple such cases if you look into the lives of their immigrants.

Since Canada is my new home, and more importantly it’s ruled by a monarch who I’ve sworn loyalty to when I became a British citizen, I guess I have to step up and defend it.

MQ,,, wrong, wrong, and wrong. If Canadians had slammed planes into our buildings to kill our innocent people, we will call Canadians terrorists as well, and will give them a treatment they deserve. It has nothing to with Islam or Muslims.
Where do you read about stories of racism against African Americans? Sometimes I feel that the best selling newspaper in Canada is the National Inquirer.

Haha, I knew a guy who was from the States. He went to an all night pharmacy and was taking out his wallet to pay when the police the clerk had called started manhandling him. The clerk was piss scared. Why, because the customer was BLACK and the clerk thought he must be carrying a weapon. I’m sure there are millions of other examples. Michael Moore has a really funny parody about racism against blacks in the States.

African Americans middle class is the fastest growing social mobility segment of US society. Decade over decade the laws have been changed to help the african american community realize their American dream. It will continue to go up. Inner cities where you see the "ghettoization"...the demographics on life expectancy, joblessness etc isn't that different from the rural backwoods of west virginia and like where the majority of poor are still white. Compare this to the native canadian population and their prospects. The supposed social net is not devoid of classism in Canada. Go check access to medical care for native canadians when comparing it to the rest of Canadians. Pitiful at best..look their percapita GDP. In fact compare the regional distribution of incomes from those areas close to the US border to those which are away from it. Maybe SAS boy can post some stats.
