Help! Studying options after MBA

Hi y’all.. I’ve done my MBA in Marketing from Bahria University, Islamabad and have 16 years of education (with two years under grad program). I worked for around two years for a bank and then resigned as I want to pursue studying at the moment. Can anyone hep me in this regard, as in, what study options do I have now (after the MBA)? Like I can do MS in something or M.Phil or what? I’m a little confused. I’m not interested in doing CSS or something like that so yeah, any help/guidance will be appreciated.

How about working in your chosen field and then picking certifications or short courses relevant to your career path?

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

You have option to do MS or MPhil both after your masters however it limits the job scope to teaching or research. It doesn't really effect your career growth in corporate sector.

MPhil is currently only offered in NBS

As X2 suggested, certification is a great idea. For marketing, you can go for certifications offered by CIM

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

Hmm MS sounds good coz I'm not really interested in working in the corporate sector anyways.. Teaching in a college or university is more my thing.. Thanks for replying!

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

That sounds good, I'll keep it in mind. Thanks for the reply and help!

If you want to go in academia, go for a doctorate degree.

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

doctorate? as in m.phil and then phd?

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

do u need to do an mphil in order to go for a PhD?
whatever the path is, if you want a career in academia, PhD or equivalent is what you need to get.

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

YES..this is good one. Insha'Allah..i plan on doing my PMAC certification. It takes 3 yrs to finish and you write big exam. I said three years coz..i will be doing through night schooling slowly. But i mean to say here is that..nowdays employers are increasingly looking for certifications related to your chosen career instead of MBA and doing all that jazz. Don't know..this is my personal opinion. But if i were you..i would pick certification(s) to excel in your career.

When there is limited experience, focused certifications get the foot in the door for very specific roles.

Industry specific certifications can help in career growth or where someone is changing the field. This does not include required licensing and certifications required in some fields.

The challenge is that people get MBAs without enough quality experience and end up under experienced and over qualified for the roles out there and then have to figure ways out to land something good enough.

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

I think you should go for job experience now. MBA as a degree is enough. In the long run study for the sake of study is not beneficial.

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

If you dont see yourself as an academia professional then consider a relevant doctorate program. Masters or double masters might not get you a sustainable academic career either. People with real work experience with a masters degree make better lecturers than the ones with limited work experience and a PhD.

but it also depends on your area of interest. Go for Phd if you can afford to put in the effort.

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

and wot was ure major? if it was management u can go for ms management

Re: Help! Studying options after MBA

If u want to teach then Ph.D is your option .If M.Phil is a pre-req then u will have to do it.
If u go for a Ph.D in business administration then IBA Karachi offers a direct Ph.D program visit its website.
