help! Restaurants in GTA

I want to have a surprise 26th anniversary party for my parents at a nice restaurant in the GTA area (mississauga, toronto, etc)

the problem is the ‘nice’ part. i’ve been looking at various reviews online, and it seems like all desi restaurants have something wrong with them :frowning:

can anyone recommend any?

^ yeah tandoori time in mississauga and the one in toronto at albion both are awsome, i luv there food.

or BBQ tonight in missisauga is also awsome.
Spicy village mississauga have nice buffet, been there only once.
or the best buffet in town is DK's tandoori flame, its amazingly cheap, biggest buffet in town with so many diffrent dishes, and nice environment.
there used to be PAKWANCHI in mississauga m not sure it still exists or no.

there's an iranian halal restaurant at finch aand yonge( i dont have the name on me but can get it for u). i was there 3 days ago n food was amazing. lemme know if u r interested ..if you want desi only then u can try shahi karahi in markham.it's only takeout but food is good

Depends on your definition of nice. Unfortunately, when it comes to ambiance and setup, our desi restaurants in the GTA leave a lot to be desired.

There are several joints that are reasonable though:

  • Haveli in Mississauga has a mini chalet like setup that you can book if you have a group of 15 or more people. Their food isn't too bad either.

  • Sahara in Mississauga is pretty good. They have booths and tables. Food is above average.

The best combination of ambiance and food that I've experienced though has got to be Chauhan in Markham. Easy, non crowded feel with candle lit background if you so desire, and very good food.

you're prolly talking about Zaffron... good food no doubt but it can get extremely crowded and I wouldn't select it for an intimate family affair.

best for you specially their tables are not too close to each other.
So even when partying , you fell like you will your own space. You can talk and every thing being comfortable.

Tandory time is way too small for such a thing.

its the night before the big day and i just finalized the restaurant rightttttttt now. talk about procrastination! i settled on haveli, lets hope it turns out nice.

haveli has nice desi buffet and nice pak-rural atmosphere.

i would have had recommended Eddie's Wok n Roll (its a Indian style Hakka Chinese Food and the Thai cuisine)

^ A Good choice (if enviroment / customer is a big concern). Food / $$ value is good as well.

Kara Mia (in vaughan) used to be amazing halal italian food. they just recently changed their menu a little (haven't tried that new menu). Place is small though, so make sure go at off-hours
