7 am- gave kid his meds, 3 ml amoxicilin
7:01 am- gave him his milk. he drank 4 oz.
7:05 am- he vomited LARGE twice in a row- all of the milk and a large amount of phlegm came out.
question: do i give him his dose again? has he barfed it up?
help!
I have been in same situation many times I never gave her the medicine again just out of fear of over dosing her :( I didn't know if it was the right thing to do.
he is very small plz dont give him medi again unless doc says n dont give milk at aonce after medi u can give few sips of water wait half hour than give him milk
It is an antibiotic. The best thing would be to call the pediatrician.
I once gave my daughter Advil for fever and she threw up.We were told to repeat and give half the dose. But check with his doc first. Also as DA said, don't give medicines and food/milk so close.
Hope he feels better soon...:)
I noticed that if you give milk or any foods so soon after giving medication, they will throw up. They need to digest the medication. For some children, milk does not go well with any type of antibiotic which is another reason they vomit.
I would check with a nuse from Telehealth Ontario if you are unable to see your doctor today regarding his medication. You can call them 24/7.
Nopes don't give it to him. The goes into affect n isn't digested like food. U don't want to overdose but u can give ur next dose like an hour early. Hope ur baby gets better soon :)
thanks for all the feedback ladies! i spoke to his paed and she said if he barfs less than 2 hours after his medication is given, then its ok to give half the dosage again.
da, he's recovering, mA, but now hubby and i are sick with the chest and ear infection that he had! bleh. but thank you for asking! :)
he's been given two inhalers and we had to buy a mask type thing to give it to him. haven't done it yet because i know he'll freak out. anyone have experience with giving the inhaler to baby via mask? any suggestions on making it easier?
He wont freak out. Its really easy and kids just think its a game. My sil has a scaredy cat for a kud....hw needs inhalers every now and then ever since he was a baby due to asthma.... Never had a prob.
Just give it a go
Rwcently genie had to ne neubulized...same procedure with mask..but attatched to a machine.... Didnt think anything of it....justvplayed with the mask. I had thought to buy the machine mtself cuz it helps immesnsely with congestion in the chest.... Forgot to get it :(
