Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

Hi girls

I am am really stuck, I have lots of clothes made from pak by my auntie for a wedding and it has very delicate embroiday. My aunti is going to post them from there, but we don’t know who to use! DHL and TCP something like that, are quick, but they rummage through the clothes before getting them to us. We have had clothes posted through DHL before and when it got here, it had been gone through, checked through and put back in the box like rubbish. My auntie is saying the kapra and the embroidary is very delicate and will ruin the clothes if they are handled that way.

Do any of you have clothes sent from pak regularly and if yes, how do they get here, as in what condition.

We need the clothes quick but don’t know who to send them through. Please help! x

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

You can't really get any safer than DHL, TCS is about the same but cheaper. I don't know which side your package was opened on but twice when clothes have been sent from the guy who makes my outfits to clients in Canada, they spent some time in Canadian customs and all the individually packaged outfits were stuffed back in the box. If it's customs, there's not much you can do about it.
I know with DHL, having looked at the tracking, the package gets sent off as soon as you drop it off in Pakistan and there are regular updates, I'm not sure where they would open it. So I'm fairly sure it's the receiving country's customs as that's the only place it can spend a whole day.

Anyway, the only thing I can suggest is to make sure everything is individually packed and each packages are as thin as flimsy as possible so you can feel if anything would be wrapped inside. Mark each packet with a label saying that's it's very delicate and please handle with care. I don't know if it would work but if the person on the other end has any decency then maybe. Also try not sending everything in one package, they are much more likely to open a large package in customs.

my khala gets clothes regularly from pak, they usually come through fedex, package is always sealed and never tampred with. You can also have a handle with care sticker put on it. hope that helps :)

Thank you you girs are so helpful

My aunti has sent some of the clothes today from a local post office it Lahore!! I am a little worried now, she said they said it will take a week to get here and no one will look through it. I guess I will have to wait and see now.

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

Yes i'd also recommend fedex, fast, reliable & not usually messed around like tamperd with.

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

I send the clothes to UK and my client receive in 3 or 4days through DHL....

And it cost 20pound on 2KG...

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

Hi girlies.

I called my aunti up but spoke to cousin, aunti was already at DHL sending my parcel, I just have to hope for the best and will definalty keep Fedex in mind next time. xx

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

I really don't think it matters between the two companies - if customs want to open a package they will. My clothes guy sends most of his packages via TCS and they are passed on to either DHL or FedEx; up til now there's never been a problem except for the packages to Canada.

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

My clothes were posted 4 weeks ago and I received them a few days ago. It took 4 weeks for them to arrive. I'm also in the UK. I hope the wedding isn't anytime soon :)

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

The urgent service throgh teh local post office takes anywhere from a week to 10 days.

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

MKD, was your package sent thru regular mail or International speed post?

Sadia, I have used almost all the shipping services out there, never did I receive a package that had been tampered with.

Re: Help!! posting wedding clothes from pak to U.K

If you dont need them urgently, you can also have them shipped- havent tried it, but a friend of mine sends clothes/household stuff to her sisters (cuz they recently got married and moved abroad) and it reaches in about 3 weeks...
