need some help from all you lovely people!! basically, for her cousin’s wedding my friend is gonna wear her mum’s wedding gharara .. however, she is just gonna wear the gharara and make a new kameez & dupatta .. so the gharara is like maroonish and it’s banarasi .. you know how that is .. maroon and goldy ..
she’s gonna make a long shirt and new duputta .. but she doesn’t know what colour combo she should do .. because she can’t exactly make a maroon shirt and duppatta coz she doesn’t want it to look too bridaly!! so I need a colour combo with that banarasi gharara!! if you guys have any pictures please post them as well ..
all input will be highly appreciated .. thanks a lot in advance
i dont have any pictures but the colours that would go nicely with maroon goldy that might go nicely with maroon are white, off-white, gold banarsi, green (but mostly light shades of green), beige, a golden peach. any colour she chooses should have gold tones to it or gold work or something so it'll look good with banarsi cloth. another colour she could do is black or grey but that might be too dark or dull for a wedding..hope it helps.... :)
why doesn't she pick up on the gold in the gharara? thats what my mum's doing for bro's wedding- wearing her valima kamkhwab gharara- its deep purple with a gold print, so she got matching gold jamavar and she's making a new dupatta too in the purple. both shirt and dupatta have very light kaam on the edges in purple and gold.
and the gold in question is not a in-yo-face kind of thing, its very pale and pretty in jamavar.
i wore my mom’s gharara (what do you call th two-legged thing again???) on my dholki, and just did a plain zari shirt and tissue dupatta in gold … didnt want it to look super done … just simple enough so that the lower thing stands out … no one could believe that thing is 27 years old!!! it still shines like brand new! old stuff has quality …
here’s me:
p.s. sorry i have a strange posture here … i was dancing with my maid, and was basically just shocked at what she was doing … it was fun … hahahaah
dark green would be beautiful! also beige, marigold yellow, orange..
Omg I love this one!! I wish I had this picture with me this past weekend when I went shopping for my wedding outfit! This is the exact combination I was looking for and trying to explain to the lady!!
Also a red and navy blue combination are just as beautiful! You could do the red lehga with a navy blue dupatta and shirt with very light work on the neck or damaan. Or keep the shirt plain and silk like they used to be back in the day and get a dark, navy blue crush ka dupatta or navy blue goergette dupatta with work just on the dupatta. It would look gorgeous! My cousin wore her mothers navy blue and red gharara to her sisters chauti and it was beautiful and didn’t take away from the bride at all who was also wearing her mothers red wedding gharara.
Kind of like the combo that priankya wore in her Lal dupatta video!
