Hi fellow guppies, am new to the site here..really need your help!!!
Does anybody know of nice venues/ Banquet Halls for a small Engagment/ Wedding ceremony in the Washington DC / Virginia area..is anybody familiar with that area? Other places nearby are also ok..like Alexandria, Arlington, Springfield or even DC itself
Im really new to the area so am not sure..what is out there..its for a small group of ppl like about 50-60..
As a last option, I am thinking if there are any nice restaurants you guys can recommend, that would host a party of 50-60?
Chutney restaurant in VA has a hall that has a very desi feel. Food is good. Aabshaar restaurant also has one, but it is not as nice, tho it is fine. Food is good.

Are there any that offer catering as well? There are so many like these in Toronto, but i dont know where to begin for DC area..
Preferably Banquet halls, maybe restaurants..anything and everything right now.. I want to keep the budget under 3000 since it is small.. want it to be small yet elegant..
We've pretty much finalized venues -- but my brother's wedding functions are 300+ so a lot of the places we liked were not able to accommodate us. You'll have more options.

Not sure if you’re open to outside catering, but we had my cousin’s mehdni here and it was so incredibly charming! I wish I could have found a place like this in Toronto for my engagement. It might be a bit out there though, not sure where you will be staying. We were staying in Leesburg, VA, and it was like an hr drive.
Hi Sahar02, Im not sure how to go about finding good banquet halls/ venues..is there a wedding planning website that has a list of names? ... ill need to call them up, but so far I cant find good choices..
Having it outside is also an option, depending on the weather.
When we were looking, we did searches for all the major hotel chains in our area: Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Sheraton
Eventually we settled for the Fairview Marriott in Falls Church, VA. The nicest one in the area is the Westfields Marriott also in VA, but these are all too big for your event. We wanted something in Maryland, but there are more LARGE venues in Virginia.
I recommend that you start with the ones that are CLOSEST to you. One less thing to worry about. Most Banquet halls in hotels are going to be too large for your event, which means that you won’t get an amazing deal, but lets see what happens. They may have smaller rooms that you can get, with better deals.
Each of them have online forms for the hotels you select, and you just fill out the event details as best as you can, and their banquet managers contact you.
One of the premiere and very professional caterers in the area is Ascot, an Indian company. They have several restaurants in the area and would definitely be a great choice. I have attended SEVERAL events catered by them or held at one of their locations. Always good. I think you should give them a try:
I don't live in DC, but my Best F does, and she always recommends Bombay Tandoor (Like "Sahar" mentioned). I have seen the place myself and the food is delcious. They host small weddings and location is good/inside decor is very nice. (Rasika and Tandoor Nights are good too: They to hold small functions.
