hi guys,
im not sure if this is to be in the beauty forum or where..so im posting it here.
abotu to get married in say 4 months from now..but all of a sudden iv got these pimples on my cheek n forehead.im stressing out,n cant even look into the mirror.wat shud i do?
my doc has given me an antibacterial cream to apply, just got it yesterday.but im feeling so depressed.im supposed to be meeting up with my inlaws this weekend,n im gonna look so horrible
wat shud i do..iv beeen thru all the posts n topics but im feeling a bit lost..
also,iv had pretty gud skin always,so never went for facials etc..wat beauty regimen shud i adopt for my pre-wedding prep???when to start facials etc..
just to mention iv got oily-combination skin i think.work hectic hours.try to drink plenty, but eat a lot of junk(cant avoid it)
princess21.....dont freak out.....it happens.....stress, weather, food all play a part in it....my sister actually has a huge problem with acne and she's gone through a lot of remedies....i'll outline the ones that worked the best...
drink grapefruit juice.....its very cooling.....and helps flush out ure system.....however u have drink it fresh and as soon as its been made....dont leave it lying around for long....its best at its freshest.
when doctors are operation on someone they apply this paste/ointment sort of thing to disinfect the area first.....i dont know wats it called but if u can gte ure hands on it apply it to the pimple are and leave it on for 10 mins and then wash ure face.
theres an ointment called polyfax thats very good.....its slower to work than others but there will be absolutely no marks...
where facials are concerned dont get one rite before ure wedding or meeting the inlaws...because usually after a facial ppl get breakouts because of the intense sort of cleaning thats done.....at the least ure skin will be sensitive and red for a day or so...
u can cover it up with makeup if u dont have much time but i wud suggest using the best foundation/concealer.....try chanel or armani......they help the skin and dont leave it dehydrated...dont put on cheaper makeup because as it is makeup clogs ure pores so use the best....ask ure doctor what ingredients u shud be looking at for ure specific skin type...he shud be able to tell u...
last but not the least drink lots of water.....since this usually doesnt happen its probably due to overheating of the body.....make sure u dont eat hot foods....avoid spices, tomatoes and eat loads of cooling foods like cucumbers or even yogurt.
also this may seem personal but is this happening to u arnd ure mensturation time? cuz usually pimples tend to appear around that time of the month.....if so they shud go away soon....
another thing is if u have pimple around the forehead and cheeks make sure u keep ure hair away from the face.....hair has natural oils that sometimes dont suit the skin and make it break out...esp if ure using a different shampoo or changing anything....try to avoid junk during this time.....eat all cooling vegetables and fruits......avoind chocolate and honey.....actually try to go veg for a while and avoid meat as well esp red meat.....if u cant then keep to white meat....like chicken or fish....but again even there avoid the desi version because our food tends to have too much masala....stick to grilled foods with minimum masalas or spices....
hope this helps....lemme know if u need any other remedies.....i'll talk to my sis and get more!
aww thanks so much seteil..
emm,i cant live without chocolates,im adicted to em but will try to cut don coz dnt want breakouts at this stage...
im not sure, but yeah iv got these pimples as soon as i started my period..but its neva actually happened before ,so dnt know :(
grapefruit juice..can i drink it from a carton, actually im working,n dnt have time to make juices n stuff..i know the juice packs contain preservatives etc but do u think theyll help?
n the disinfectant..u talking about the browny liquid called inadine?or the pink gel disinfectant, cant remeber the name...but if it helps i'l get hold of it..
n i dnt really use make-up,iv got red earth and estee lauder products..but im useless when it come sto make-up so dnt think ill be able to hide these horrible pimples:(
but thanks dear..ill definitely try the above
one more thing..someone told me to put cinnamon n honey on the spots,im scared to try it?but do u know if it works?
just wish they go away..ther driving me insane :(
got my face waxed one day before my mehndi ... kaboooom ... pimples pimples pimples ... i applied it everytime i thought it was not there anymore on my face ... like 3 or 4 times a day ...
and it REALLY helped ... had a clean face by my barat (2 days later) ... i still use it for any new pimples over any other garnier crap ..
and if you have oily/combination skin ... dont stress your skin too much with anti-pimple things and exfoliation ... it just makes it worse ... what you're going through it just that time of one's life :D ... on your wedding day you'd just look pretty ... believe me!
just do that weekly exfoliation and some cucumber or aloe kind of face mask ... keep your twice a day gentle face cleansing thing going on ..
and ofcourse ...eat/drink healthy ... and do itsy bitsy things during the week that make you feel like a bride-to-be :D ... you know the pampering and the ubtan etc ...
thanks farrah..
emmm the itsy bitsy wedding things..well,actually thats another issue..i dnt know about all that stuff..
im the only girl in like millions of boy cousins n im not that close to my cousins wives etc,..none of my friends r married,so dnt know anything about the wedding skni care thingy..see wat i mean..im so dumb,na!
but wud appreciate it if u give some advice..i did read ginas thread, but didnt know where to start with things..so basically left it at that.
A little bit off topic here ...Farrah...betnovate is a steroid and can have the effect of weakening the skin even if you see short term benefits! I would be wary of overdoing it!
Seteil tips are helpful and though I'm not getting married lol I will keep them in mind!
aww thanks so much seteil..

yeah i think its the brownish liquid.....grapefruit juice is the most effective when its fresh......just try to drink once a day if u can otherwise go for the carton.....its very effective generally at cooling ure body down....i would suggest u drink it regularly anyway.....actually i wud suggest evryone do it.....its great for clear skin.....my mom has my entire family on it and even though i dont keep up with that much when i'm not at home, ive noticed that whenever i drink it regularly my skin looks and feels great......i know its hard with the chocolate...believe me i'm addicted too but i completely quit it arnd my period cuz i always break out as it is.....just try to keep it to a minimum....also try green tea...and lemonade....just lots of detoxing liquids.....its great for flushing all the crap out of ure system....i do proper detox once every month....i just have different liquids the entire day and no solids....its great for ure system.....just flushes everything out.....i feel the healthiest right after i do it.....also for wedding beauty regimes....if ure going for ubtan....dont overdo it as many brides do....ure skin gets a yellow tinge to it that doesnt go away for a very long time......my best friend started applying ubtan a few mnths before her wedding and she looked a little jaundiced for mnths after! lol.....also be careful if u have any allergies cuz they mix a lot of stuff into ubtan usually.....its very rarely just pure.....my cousin had it applied on her face 2 weeks before her wedding and the ubtan has lemon peel in it which she's allergic to.....the woman had just put it on her cheek and immediately she felt it burning and took it off....but the damage was done.....her skin kind of came off with it.....she had these really bad scabs on her face.....and she went to doctor and everything but it didnt go away......infact she had to cover up with foundation the entire time.....the weirdest thing is that the day after her wedding they were completely gone.....the whole thing had completely healed.....it was amazing.....i was with her when she was getting her makeup done and they were really red and horrible and covered half her cheek and the next day they were just gone....no sign......the makeup had actually helped i think.....lol....which is why i suggested that u use the best quality if u do cuz she was wearing armani foundation.....
i would suggest trying khaalis dhoodh massages......they are supposed to be amazing and leave ure skin glowing.....u'll have to find a massage lady to do it cuz i dont think its very commonly found.....i think they make their own mixtures.....atleast thats what my moms massage lady told her....i wanted to get it done but didnt have time the last time i was in pk.....if anyone has gotten it done could u let me know how it is???
cheers seteil,ur a star :)..they r really helpful tips..im definitely gona go for grapefruit, ngreen tea n stuff...n yeah will try cut down my chocolate too :(
wow..im glad ur cousin got rid of them, sounds like really gud stuff..will check it out too..
n im not sure about ubtan stuff..dnt live in pk,n definitely dnt wana be jaundiced on my big day...emm,when shud i start getting facials done??someone told me i shud get monthly facials from now on,any idea??
i dont know abt facials.....i get them done very rarely and my mom who has the most amazing skin of anyone ive ever seen gets them done i think twice a year......
another thing u could try out is this neem mask that Himalaya does i think.....thats really amazing...u can feel the difference after just one use....makes ure skin very soft.....also moisturize properly because thats the best thing to do for skin......hope that helps!!

i dont get an awful loads of pimples ... i just used it in an emergency, and it helped, short term benefits were NEEDED then ...
i dont think its harmful cuz i dont put it on my entire face, just where the pimple is ... once a day, when there is a pimple :D

Hey Princess21,
What type of pimples do you have? Do you have those little bumps under the skin? Or do you have regular whiteheads/blackheads?
My dermatologist prescribed a pill called Doryx (150MG once a day) and it was the MOST effective in eliminating the under the skin little bumps. You have to be very consistent with this pill. Do not miss any days or doses. You have to have it at the same time every day for 60 days. It is very expensive without insurance.
Another treatment he prescribed is Tazorac (ask for the 0.1% its the better one compared to the 0.05%). This medication works wonders but you have to be VERY VERY patient because it peels the first layer of the skin. You will look like a red tomato but after the 6 to 12 week treatment (depending on how aggressive your acne is) your skin will look amazing. People are starting to use Tazorac because it tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles not just for acne problems.
Before I started using Tazorac, I used to apply a lot of makeup because my skin was very uneven, now because of this medication my skin is evened out and I barely need to apply foundation. After a few weeks of getting used to this medication it will make your skin sensitive, basically you will have a "flushed" effect on your cheeks.
Always wash your face with soaps approved by your dermatologist. Do not go with the Pakistani/Indian techniques because I have tried them and they will irritate your skin further. My dermatologist also stated how just washing your face with lukewarm water is also beneficial (splashing the water around 4 times on your face). I know it sounds dirty but trust me it works because the soap dries your skin and your skin thirsts for water.
I have very sensitive skin so sensitive that if someone were to pinch my cheeks there will be a mark on my skin for several days! They look like broken capillaries and it sucks!
hey thanks pulchritudinous,n everyone else too..
think thats a doxycycline ur talking about..just 60 days, will that make a difference?its just that iv heard if u start taking oral treatments, they first make ur acne worse n then they deal with it,i mean they make all the pops come out n then attack them..i dnt wana get worse..
my doc has given me an ointment containing clindamycin and benzyl to apply on the active spots i have..
n oops, yeah they seem to be like bumps..yuck!
is tazorac for the active spots or for scars?coz i dnt have scarsa, well now i mite after this horrible episode ot spots..

Hey Princess21,
The Doryx for me personally attacked the acne right away. It didn't make the pimples grow more and then attack them. Also a plus with these oral acne medications is that those ingrown hairs/pimples on the body disappear as well especially back acne. yuck!
The Tazorac is for active pimples, it will deflate them so to speak overnight and then you apply for another week to target the redness. Speak to a dermatologist for the best results for your face.
