Help out a muslim brother part 2

A kind (read farigh) well-wisher who believes that the solution to all my life’s problems lies in the smoothies she recommends, has been on my case trying to make a believer out of me. When a rice crisis is boiling in South Asia and 16000 children are dying from hunger everyday, I am being harassed to buy this blender for four hundred bucks!!!

She has stuffed herself in my mail box (figuratively ofcourse), spammed my inbox and monopolized my phone. There is just no way out of this one. SO brothers and sisters with a conscience, do the right thing and help out this muslim brother in finding a cheaper yet effective blender. Motivated by my store credit at bed bath and beyond I have found the following blenders which look interesting. If you have a better suggestion please feel free. Also if you have tried and tested recipes for healthy smoothies kindly share. You will be rewarded by the moderators of this wonderful forum.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

I use the Magic Bullet set just because hubs had it before we got married and it works awesome. The only problem i have discovered is that the rubber ring came off while i was trying to clean it one day. But it works fine w ithout it too, except for getting hard to open at times. Its excellent though. I also use it to grind masalas and dry spices (it has a seperate blade for that). Order this directly through the source sinc ei think the ones sold in stores doesnt have the bigger jug.

If you are going to use it more often, i would invest in a kitchen aid. their products are more heavy duty and a bit expensive but the quality is superb. BBB sends out coupons regularly, sometimes at 20% off. I would take advantage of those if you have them.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

magic bullet. i swear by it. i've owned mine for abt 4 years now, i use it every single day... to grind my masalas fresh, make smoothies, etc etc. at the risk of sounding like a saleswoman for the Bullet, let me say that what i love best about it is that it takes up very little counter space (a big plus in NYC apartments), it works fast and clean up is a breeze. i bought mine on ebay for less.

p.s. i believe it'll make more than a few smoothies to sort out ur life probs :p

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

Unless you aren't projecting to be a Master Chef to make smoothies, all you need is just a working blender with a couple of speed and blending options...

We used to have this top of the line Breville Ikon die cast blender, was really impressed with its performance... last year it broke while we were moving to our new apartment. I bought a cheaper one, Oster Fusion, from Target and trust me it is working as fine as my top of the line one was working for us. Makes yummy smoothie everyday and everytime.

for smoothie i use:

  • frozen fruits (mixed or strawberries only)
  • 2% Milk.
  • sugar (skip if you have no mercy for your taste buds)

throw the above ingredient together in the blender and whirrrrrr until smooth.
Enjoy!

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

you meant to say ‘you will be rewarded by the wonderful moderators of this forum’ :halo:

Geek if she is that concerned just tell her to make them for you  Please stop showing off about how a female is all over u and ur various boxes and phone! Look at it this way, if you buy that blender you can make smoothies and send them to the 1600 people dying of hunger.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

^ I have no such death wish

Namkeen, yep, I agree.. it’s gonna take a few smoothies AND your secret recipe book to sort out my life’s problems. Gimme it

Ira, I will have to see if BBB has smaller sized blenders by kitchenaid or not. My main interest is buying something powerful yet small and easy to cleanup which from namkeens post sounds all possible with the magic bullet.

ConservativeGirl, how powerful is the oster fusion blender? I want something that can blend peels to a pulp too. I want to use seeded grapes do you think this can handle the stubborn grape skin and seeds?

In any case thank you all for your help.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

ummmm when was anything ever about ur wishes?

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

^But my mom insists. And my mom also told me not to talk to strangers with weird signatures.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

awwwww. Geek im sure ur mum also told you that you are special, not everything she says should be taken at face value, anhaan.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

^now that hurt.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

geek, if you are looking for power, KitchenAid or Cuisinart is the way to go.

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

geek saahib,

i have used the magic bullet blender and have to say that i agree with everoyne above who say that it is versatile and can be used too for things other than smoothies. I also think that something like the magic bullet will be usefull for your future wife if she is good in the kitchen.

However, i also like the hand held blenders that you have shown up there as it's much easier to clean once you'v done as generally the bases are stainless steel so can just be rinsed in water.

I don't recommend you buying something really expensive just for smoothies because i have found that the novelty just wears off. Don't know what you think tho???

Hope this helps

Semrina

Re: Help out a muslim brother part 2

^ oh that’s a very good point Sem. Maybe I should buy a cheaper version for now, then if I find myself using it on a regular basis over teh next 6 months, I ask my future wifey to bring a pricier version with her

Ira, right now I am leaning towards this one..

Hamilton Beach® Liquid Blu Blender
