regarding match between Pakistan and West Indies.. I think it was played in the end of 1992 or 1993
The last match of 5 series match was dependent on the last mach…

Wasim Akram bowled the last bowl and wasn’t aware that if West Indies will take 2 runs, they will win the match because they lost 1 wicket less then Pakistan.

They took 2 runs in the end but I don’t know the result

can anybody explain what happened in that match?
who won?

I remember that series. I believe at the end when 2 runs were required and Akram bowl the last ball, Windies went for the 1st run and while coming back for the 2nd the crowed invaded the pitch and due to that the fielder had a hard time throwing the ball back to the keeper. At that point it was said Windies won the match but later when Akram spoke to the umpires and match refree about the crowd invading the pitch and interrupting the match it was given as a tie, as far as I remember.

BTW that series was a treat to watch. The 2 W's against Richi Richardson, one of my all time best batsman. Best thing I liked about Richi was that he never wore a helmet. Anyway but it was a treat to watch the bowling of 2 W's. In one of the matches, I think the pitch or the ground was uneven and due to that PAK was bowled out for 50 odd runs or maybe 90+ and when PAK came out to field MAN u got to see the way Akram and Vicky was bowling. I have never in my life seen Akram taking longer runup than his usual and man the ball from the 2 W's hand was coming out like a snake. There was inswing, outswing, deadly yorkers, reverse swing, bouncers and I think only in that match Richi might have once thought of having a helmet :)

I agree with Teaser, thats exactly what happend.
It was Wasim Akram bowling to Ian Bishop with Hooper on the other end, 1 ball was reamining, 2 runs were required, Bishop hit Wasim to deep cover for 2 runs, I don't know who fielded the bowl, but he threw straight to non striker's end but soon as the first run was completed people started coming into the field, the 2nd run was safely taken and Wasim never had a chance of running out Hooper.
Right after the match Windies were delcared winners, but Wasim appealed to the umpires and an hour later the match was tied.

here is the match…

The rules would have given the game to WI,
but the crowd ran onto the ground before the fielder threw
the ball to Akram at the bowler’s end. There was no question
of Akram throwing the ball to the striker’s end for a possible
run out, since the pitch had by then been overrun. Hence
the match is ADJUDGED A TIE by the match referee.

SOURCE OF THE SCORECARD

Well, crowd was very active in that match, since Pakistan bounced back from 2-0 in the series to 2-2 for this decider. I remember even a guy came into the pitch to threaten Hooper of dire consequences if they loose!!

What a series!!

thanx…
scorecard and other information appreciated:k:..

Yeah I remember that, the guy looked like a gangsta and the way he pointed his finger to Hooper and warned it seems like he was going to take Hooper's head off if he gets out or something :).

I was in Lahore at that time and our whole gang used to stay up all night for the matches. We used to gather at one of our friends house man it was so much fun watching the 2 W's with all our gang packed in one room. We were shouting and making all sort of noises but the good thing was that we were in PAK so the neighbours knew whats going on and they didn't bother calling 911 :)

As PC mentioned in of the thread he would give up one of his kid to watch Akram operate one last time before his departure. I would give up one of my kid if I get to go back to those days :)

I think the fielder was Ata-ur-Rehman.

In that series Basit Ali played very well

And one more thing that is Amer Nazir was very good with the ball. He was swining the ball like a gem. I remember he clean bowled Lara with one of his inswinger and later on in one of his interview he said when he clean bowled Lara he didn’t exactly knew what happen and than Akram bhai came over, huged me and finally I came to my sences and found out that I clean bowled Lara. :hehe: BTW Lara was bilistic at that point.

kia zamana tha :teary1:

woww @ ur memories.. itna purana game bhi aiasya yaad hia jaisay last yr ki baat ho :k:

Look at our batting lineup at that moment, Inzimam, Basit, Miandad, Ramiz, Amir Suhail, they were all world class batsman.

yup, that was the best series… That gangsta guy pointed on Hooper like he’z gonna kill him:hehe:… The match was played at Guyana and Hooper is also from Guyana… Wasim and Waqar bowled well in that match. Aamer Sohail and Ramiz Raja opened the innings and i think that the score was 50 in 7 overs. The Inzi, Basit and Akram made runs in the middle. Strong partnership between Basit and Inzi… I think the fielder was Ata-ur-Rehman. Aamer Nazir was a fine youngster at that time and he bowled very well. Couple of great overs from Waqar Younis also eased the situation for Pakistan:k:…Richie Richardson played his best and scored runs quickly and favored the match into west indies side but Akram, Ata-ur-Rehman, Sohail, Nazir and Waqar bowled pretty well. Logie was also playing his last ODI match and he was clean bowled by Wasim Bhai:k:… When the last bowl was about to bowl, even Imran Khan stated that I don’t think Wasim Akram is aware that if they will run couple, they will win because of the wickets. West Indies crowd didn’t show that they are the best crowd in the world. Even in the middle of the game, they were sitting inside the boundary! Then they had to bring police and even the horse:eek:… But that series was a treat to watch as Basit Ali, Inzamam, Javed Bhai, Aamer Sohail, Ramiz Raja, 2 W’s, Ata-ur-Rehman, Aamer Nazir and Rashid Latif played their best:k:… I wish that there is one more series like that but we can never get players like Richardson, Simmons, Akram, Younis and other players.
