help needed..

hey … i opened the thread in bazar section but thought i might be able to get some help here too..

i’m going to pakistan in about 2 weeks and will be attending a wedding end Feb - i am utterly confused as to what sort of colours/kaam styles are in fashion as i need to get my sister to get a suit made for me!! i can trust her choice but i really wanted to order something my self!

so here is where i need help of all you lovely guppies.. i know long kameez/frock styles are in fashion .. but what sort of work?? i would appreciate pics plz!! i can google/search the threads but i get overwhelmed .. i’d prefer kaam on the daman/front of the shirt rather than the gala as that tends to get hidden under the hijab!

I’m thinking of sea-green with brown or royal blue with silver kaam? again if anyone can post pics of these or any other combos would be highly appreciated.

Thanks..

Re: help needed..

I just went to pakistan last summer.

Shirts: Yes, long shirts are in. Especially the paneled ones and the anarkali/frock styles. Caftans are also in fashion. However, if you want your clothes to last longer, go for something less extreme. I think the fashion is supposed to change to less flared shirts.

Pants: Wide-leg straight pants are in fashion. Like extreme wide leg, they almost look like sharara bottoms. Again, if you want your clothes to last longer, you may want to tell your tailor to make your pants slimmer.

Kaam: Embroidery is all the rage these days, but not fine embroidery. It’s the thick, dramatic kind. Like this:

I also saw a lot of rhinestone/diamante kaam. This thread may help: http://www.paklinks.com/gs/bazaar-talk/349803-types-of-kaam.html
There is also a move toward silver or diamante kaam, versus gold. Gold is still in, but silver is also fashionable now.

Although it seems like a very specific style is in, actually everything is fair game right now in Pakistan. Short shirts, long shirts, flared pants, shalwars… You will find a mix of all styles at the malls there. Hope that helps!
