I was just wondering, is it worth getting a degree in Computer Programming if it’s not your major? I’m a Med major but recently have deveoped interest in computer programming etc and want to get a degree for general knowledge. Which degree would you recommend for someone who just wants to do it for fun and general knowledge and not really as a profession?

Degree in computer programming on the side in addition to med just for fun?
Get training / boot camp or something and get a certification, see if you like that before you bite the degree bullet. Computer Programming is not as easy as med school... unless you live in third world countries in South Asia, East Asia, etc. there is no reason to get DEGREE in computer programming and then watch your job outsourced to other countries.
If you want to do this for "fun" then go join some certification program. And if you want to develop it as 2nd career to fall back on in case your med malfunctions *then I would say go for IT security / IT hardware / IT Networking - stay away from software and if really want it then go for something that will train and give you experience for positions such as *Director of Educational Information Technology - Unis are having some trouble finding people with the right credentials as well as experience for their own programs.
