Help needed :(

hello you lovely helpful people,

does anyone know how I’d go about burning multiple mini dvds from my sony handycam onto a single dvd? I’ve spent practically all day playing on roxio and searching the web but havent been able to figure it out. It’s really annoying having to keep changing dvds after every 30 mins (cuz each mini dvd only lasts 30 mins). Each family event takes about 3/4 mini DVDs and it would be much easier to have it all on one dvd

Re: Help needed :(

Get Wiagra Video joiner or similar product - join ur videos & then burn them on normal/regular DVD.

Re: Help needed :(

but for some reason every time i try saving the dvds from the mini dvds to my computer it either says i dont have enough disk space (which i do) or becomes painfully slow. don't think i'll be able to save 4 30 minute dvds on my computer at once :(

Re: Help needed :(

Yup, first you have to rip the movie from the mini dvd to your Harddrive. After that you can burn them on one dvd. If you want to do it a simple way, use nero.
And nope, this will take time, theres noway this can be done in 2-3 mins. Yeh hours ka kaam hai :D
The only way is to buy a different camera.

Re: Help needed :(

Sadi - what are your computer specs?

Re: Help needed :frowning:

Use Nero Vision express :k:

Re: Help needed :frowning:

Thanks everyone.

It took about 50 mins to save one of the mini dvds onto my hardrive, is that normal? How many mini dvd’s will i be able to save without my laptop going kaput? I’m using Roxio Media Creator, don’t have Nero :frowning:

Rockistan, Inspirion Duo Processor, 80 GB hard drive, 1 GB Ram. I think. Me no know answers to such complex questions :rotato:

Re: Help needed :(

How are you copying DVDs on to your computer? You should be able to put these mini-DVDs directly in your PCs DVD Drive and copy them to your HDD. It should not take more than a few minutes.

If you are connecting the camera to the PC, what connection are you using USB1.1, USB2.0 or FireWire?

Re: Help needed :frowning:

Why don’t you just plug the camera into a VCR and record all to VHS tapes? :hehe:
A single VHS tape can potentially hold 6 hrs of video in extended format.

Re: Help needed :frowning:

I’m copying directly from the mini dvds to my laptop - have lost the cables to the camcorder

Witch Dr, why is mine taking so much longer?

Re: Help needed :(

How are you copying these files? Open up Windows Explorer and browse over to you DVD drive and see what format the files are in. You should be able to select the files right there and right-click and Copy. Then go to your C: drive and right-click and paste to the folder of your choice. For this part of the operation you shouldn't need any other piece of software.

Re: Help needed :(

Try this: dvd shrink.
What could be important aswell, the speed of your HD. ( I think 4200 rpms)
-A well known problem: Alot of laptop dvd drives have some sort of security lock. Whenever you will try to rip or copy something from your dvd/cd to your Harddrive the dvd-drive will run it 2 speed even if its advertized at 16. 16 speed is just for playing, not ripping. There are several hacks available but this is risky.

Oh nonsense, she wont lose anything with usb :o
And I think she meant that she was using her laptops dvd drive to copy drive. You know, a built in dvd drive? :hehe:
