im new to this website, and need help, thought id ask for it here…since ive seen how helpful u guys r on these threads :))
well…thing is my sis is getting married in toronto…and we dont live there…so we hardly know anythin…as in which banquet halls r gd?! which makeup parlor is worth the money? videographer? photographer? catering? mayyon/mehndi/shadi halls? what decoration wud suit? etc etc.
all u ppl living in toronto can be helpful, post pictures if u hav any!!..all help is highly appreciated

Candles hall is nice.
Shirley wu is best for makeup but u have to book her way in advance. Others that are just as good, dimple shah, xpressions and some more....
photographer/video- i had vijdan. no complaints.

Shirley Wu is great, my cousin went to her recently and I've met her in person. Very cooperative and up-to-date with make-up trends. Dimple is apparently the best for mehndi. Her contact info. is some where on this forum.
With regards to Halls, it really depends on your budget. Woodbine Banquet Hall is good, it's clean, has fairly high ceilings, the food is OK. It has a hotel attached to it so it's great if you are coming our of town. Chandni Banquet hall is the same in terms of food, venue is al right. In case anyone ever recommends Bella, Taj, or Forum Banquet, stay far far away from them!!!
There are a couple of threads here on photographers, videographers, and decoraters. I'm sure you'll be able to find something.
yes we've booked Shirley Wu for my sister's wedding as well. Hey even we're planning for my sister's wedding here in Toronto.
I guess we're in the same boat somehow.
As for banquet halls, there is chandni banquet hall in Brampton which is really good, then there is Woodbine like Sara mentioned, Sangam, Maple, Rose banquet hall.
For stage decor, am going to contact DreamParty decor, mandap. I've seen their work, looks pretty neat to me. All of these start at $1000, so it isnt that bad.
As for photographer, we've booked sherjan @transpose photography.
Am looking for a good videographer now, I know of vidjan but there so pricey. sigh.

Do you need a DJ as well?
My friend got a DJ and live dhol guy for decent rate. If you want, I can ask him. For hall, you have to call / see in person and get prices.

My Bro got married at La Suhaag in Brampton, its a nice hall and the food was excellent!

Shirley Wu is the best when it comes to make-up. Try to negotiate with her.
Photography- Atlantis photo (Google) Photographers name is Sandeep or Sanjeev. He is very reasonable yet very professional. I can guarantee you that ur pic will turn out amazing. Just one slight flaw is that he does not have a studio so you might have to meet up with his somewhere- like tim hortons etc. But a very friendly guy! You can tell him that I referred you to him and he might give u a discount. PM me if you need more info.
As for the dress- I would say get it from PAK. Dresses here suck!
Venue- New jaasmin banquet hall. Google it!
How is Versailles? comments on food & service? I've heard some bad and "ok" but not anything spectacular
