Bawarchis of the gupshup, i want to make channay ki daal ka halwa today and i would appreciate any kind of help–recipes, advices blah blah–from you experts.
I just bhagofied the daal in milk. Now what else i need? Riccotta cheeze? half n half? butter? sugar ofcourse…what else?
…and plz keep recipes as simple as possible since this would only be my 2nd venture in kitchen…

phir lagge rahein bhoonney mein…halwa degchi mein na lagnay payay…agar sukhnay lagay tau thori aur desi ghee wich paaein..
jitna bhoonein gee utna swad ayay ga…hamaray ghar mein tin killo chanay kay halway ko takreebun chay ghentay bhuna jaata hay…agar aap ko jaldi ho tau kamazkam tab tak bhoonein jab tak halwa degchi say ‘alag’ na ho jaayay…yaani degchee ko lag na raha ho neechay say aur alag ho gaya ho..jab aap paka rahee hon gee tau aap ko mehsoos ho jayay ga khud jab ye ho ga…
aakheer mein agar chaahein tau halway ko trays pay phela kay uss kee chakti bana saktee hayn…yaani k flat surface pay phela kay nikkay nikkay square shapes mein pooray halway ko kaatna…
aur phir ooper meway yaani badaam pista khopra bareek kata hua phela dayn…
aur agar warak ko tau khubsurtee kay liyay warak bhee laga dayn ooper…

I am not sure how much would I have enjoyed Channay ka halwa but I have to admit I really enjoyed reading Nurmah's step by step post. iss post ke wich mein jo ussne poori recipe baReh sohney tareekay ke saath dassi hai. waise procedure bahut lamba hai jee. 6 ghanTay kehde koll hain..hum tou 15 mint wich poora dinner ready kartay hain. 6 ghanTay zayea karke sirf channay ka halwa hi khana ay koi aur cheez nahi khadi jaati hai.:)
I am done with this cooking thing for life now. Cooking and i are not meant for each other. Spending 6 hours to make halwa is nothing but waste of PRECIOUS time. Had i spent those 5 hours on Foucoult’s “Ars erotica vs scientia sexualis” instead of wasting them in kitchen, i would’ve done much better in exam today :–/
