Help! Need recipe without onions

We are going to have white Dutch guests to stay here and I'd like to cook something Pakistani for them. However, one of them is allergic to onions. I never made salen without onions! I did make daal with just thoom tarka, and once fish salen with only thoom. Does anyone have any easy salen or curry recipe or perhaps a rice dish without onions? Since this is for white people who are not used to our range of mirch masala, I will need something they can handle. I would love to make chicken, but if there is another recipe, please do let me know.

Check out dahi chicken recipes. Some don't use onions.
It's basically chicken marinated in yoghurt overnight with a few masala's and cooked. No onions used. Some don't even use tomatoes in it.

I had come across a biryani recipe which didn't have onions. I never tried it so I don't know whether it was good or not.

But I've made dahi chicken and dahi mutton, both were good.

If you want something with gravy, make the gravy tomato, yoghurt and some nut based (cashew, almond or peanut paste).

Thank you very much, LP. :) Now at least I can try to cook something for them myself. I didn't like the idea of having to order something for these guests, instead of cooking for them myself.

**Why not give them your Dutch Freinds this DUTCH OVEN CHICKEN! made with No Onions!

But you can make it in your Oven Electric or Gas!**

Check out this recipe.

It has one medium onion but you can omit it. I’ve used this recipe and it was delicious.

Try my onion less Biryani

Thank you so much everybody. Very much appreciated.

We call Lehasan Thoom. And whenever I mentioned Thoom to anyone people would be like what?s that? It?s surprising you call it Thoom too :D

That's interesting. I know the word lehsan, but when I was growing up, we used thoom mostly. Lehsan was a word from cooking shows for me.

Hi all, once again thanks for the tips and recipes. I will by trying these for myself. They seem delicious and I like to try something different. I never knew there were so many recipes without onions! Now I can cook without crying :)

For the visit, I made vegatable palao, using even cabbage which I never used for Pakistani recipes before. Thanks to this visit, I discovered a new domain of possibilities. Now for me to decide which of your recipes I will try first.

I will. I never made biryani before, but always wanted to learn how to make it.

Well, today I made my first biryani using the recipe of Mostar95. It was great! Finally a pakistani rice and meat dish with a different flavour! Now I can't wait until I have time to try another recipe. That is, if I can find all the ingredients here. There was no kewra water here for example, so I used some rose water instead.

you know, for decades, whenever I make pakistani meals, I use the same family recipes. I am tired of the same dishes and will happily try other ways of cooking.

The way our foods are cooked, I doubt it any ingredient retains its allergens. Bhoon bhoon kay huliya bigar jata hai har cheez ka.
