i’m getting married in a little less than 3 months and my inlaws just decided to do a valima (wasn’t planned at first).
it’s going to be a small reception in a restaurant (around 100 people).
I now have to get a dress (i’m thinking long maxi dress with trousers) like this
i need some advice as to where to get it in such a short time
i’m going to the UK in 2 weeks to get my jewellery, would I find something good there, like the picture above or are they still stuck in the 90s ? (london, manchester, birmingham)
any reliable online home designers ? I contacted Prototype 2 weeks ago and she’s not replying so preferably someone who actually replies and who has experience with bridals (I also need outfits for my jahez which I wanted to get made by her, she replied alright at first saying yeah we can do that and now I get no replies so i don’t even have anything for my jahez now)
I think most are still in the 90's but i think thats only because they're the most popular designs UK.
We went to London for my cousins outfits but other then Guls Style most of the shops have Indian Embriodery ( nothing wrong with it if you like that style) and prices were extortionate.
My cousin also hated the fact that most of the shops had no interest in what she wanted - more interest in her budget.
If your traveling to Manchester - I'd recommend Shadi Mubarak Asian Bridal Couture. They made my cousins Bridal and Walima outfits within 4 weeks it was also better then the original. Great customer service, the designer took the time and interest in working with cousin to create the perfect outfit.
I think You can find them facebook or just google em.
Anyway good luck with your search
thanks for you reply Fozia ! my sister told me the same thing, I might something nice but it will be way too expensive and since the walima is really a small affair there's no point spending so much. will check out Shadi Mubarak online :-)
There's nothing too decent over here, I recommend that you buy your outfit(s) from Pakistan (if that's where you're located). The stuff over here is more Indian inspired.
Also, I've recently contacted Proto and she's been replying. Maybe your emails are going to her junk mail? Try emailing her via PM on here.
hey DP, i live in Paris and we can't travel to Pakistan and I have no family there to get something for me.
i also sent prototype a PM via facebook but no replies, it's a shame, I was really excited to get my outfits from her :-(
About Proto, BEWARE! I know lots of ppl here sing her praises but if she's not paying attention to you now, she won't later either. I tried everything to contact her, PM, email. When we finally did get in touch, despite my hesitation I placed an order anyway based on reviews. The clothes were ok (some mistakes, adequate quality) but delivery took a year!! And throughout that year I had to email several times before I got any reply. My point here isn't that she sucks, just that if you're on a timeline, take your business to someone with more reliable customer service.
I've also heard good things about Shadi Mubarak.
Hi Cinnamonroll, I just pm'ed you and then checked my inbox. You emailed me last week after a long gap since we last talked. It was my cousin's wedding and I was busy with family all week. I am getting back to your query now and it's totally for you to decide if you want to trust me for going ahead or not.
