Do you have any specific questions?
You do not have to do any coding from scratch. There are many forums that you can download ready from the net and just install and configure, for example simple machines forum.
Gupshup runs on VB which is not free, it will cost you around 100-150$ ..
Go for PHPbb which has pretty much the same functionality of VB and its open source.
Change the code comments,.. add your name.. and boom.. boom.. you will be the first Pakistani who created a powerful forum software … and your name will be everywhere.. on geo.. jang.. .internet ..

I like VB cos it integrates the use of AJAX… if you get any kind of funding i would go for that…
PHPbb…hmmm, i heard that there can be issues with templates?? What about PunBB??
The visual appearance is apparently easy to customise cos of the use of CSS and the coding is easy to work with…
Its possible with PHPBB require lil-bit coding.. on the other hand VB provide out of box functionality.
Never had any.. when i use it.. 4 years ago i think ..
Template engine is very much same in PHPBB & VB …imo.
The difference is one is open source and other is propriety!
