Sorry sister but being honest in the Pakistani culture doesn't get you anywhere - it's morally corrupt where good behaviour gets taken for granted and bad behaviour is respected. I would suggest you get an evening job - NHS etc advertise evening jobs.
May Allah make the next generation of Muslim mother in laws the opposite of what we have today.
Thanks guys for your responses and ideas. I've decided that yes I am going to toughen up and be just as stubborn as my husband when it comes to this issue. I've softly hinted that things need to change because being forceful leads to unnecessary confrontation and last week we had one evening at home and another evening when he went to see his mum and dad and I invited some friends over. We're having a weekend away next week which I'm really looking forward to. I'm going to find some evening classes locally so that I can be a little more independent.
I've made a menu plan and have been cooking the odd dish at home. Husband has enjoyed the lunches/breakfasts I've made :D My in laws aren't happy (grandfather in law made a barbed comment last night about how daughter in laws these days want to split families up and change family dynamics) but I've realised I need to put myself first. Just waiting to hear when IVF will start so please keep me in your duas!

Have at least one evening at home every now and then to start with. Don't change too much too soon, otherwise they will bring your husband into it and he will not let you spend even one evening away.
Ufff parents need to understand they need to give their sons some space after getting them married. No matter how nicely you say it, it will be twisted into something negative. The family expectations due to our culture can be nearly impossible to deal with.
