Sara, I have gone through this because I had my first 6 years after I got married. Then I thought it’ll stop but the next question right after I delivered was now when are you having a boy? Then I had a second girl and till today I get asked this question about when I’ll have a boy These aunties have way too much energy I tell ya.
So listen, I was returning from an out of country trip a few days ago. There was an Indian dude at the customs who was helping put our baggages back up on the conveyor belt. he saw my girls and said, “do you just have 2 daughters? Now you must go have a son!”
So uncles too are catching that fever.
Best thing to do is have a confident smile and say “auntyjeeeee, aap dua kareiN.”
Oh and they would never ask the husband because they don’t have guts.
Do they think you can just walk to a baby store and pick up a baby of your choice?? seriously. Listen now I have a boy & a girl and I am still questioned to death and my daughter is ONLY 5 months old!!! When will you have another, your boy needs a brother, your daughter needs a sister…etc…
argh!! Your right best answer that shuts them up is Allah ki Marzi, dua mangein.
Its not limited to aunties only… my husband actually told me 2 uncles asked him about kids when we were visiting Pakistan this time and one actually had the audacity to ask “who’s the problem with, you or your wife” followed by “doctor ko dikhaaya”.
My husband was totally offended and me … I laughed my head off
Gosh these aunties drive you mad i tell ya...
I was asked 'parhaiz to nahi kar rahi ho?' I didn't get what she meant, i said...haan gym jaati hoo is waja se weight kam hua hai! She basically meant (you usin contraception?) Cheeky cow!
I used to say, Jab Allah ko manzoor hoga..it usually works!
Seriously, blame it on the husband...I think someone even said to get his attention and tell him "sunein aunty ji poochrahi hein ke bachon ka kya khayal hai"
Tell them:
'Aap dua karen aunty wink'
Next time they ask:
'I told you to make dua, aap ne kiya hi nahi, buss aap karti rahen, I am depending on your duas aunty'
Tell them .. aap kaa beta dont LOVE me anymore .. and put emphasis on the word Love (and if ok, follow that with a wink) .. they should stop asking you after that
