Can any body tell me how my years did Ashab e Qaf live in the cave

what the ppl think about the number of years they spent is clearly mentioned in the Holy Quran....
Quran 18:25
So (it is said that) they stayed in their Cave three hundred years and (some) add nine (more).
but this is what ppl assume about them....
in the next verse Allah says:
Quran 18:26
Say: "Allah knows best how long they stayed: with Him is (the knowledge of) the secrets of the heavens and the earth: how clearly He sees, how finely He hears (everything)!....
so dont worry urself with such matters that r of no impotrance and do not stray away like those who fell into controversies....
